Would You Love to Create a Thriving Life Coaching Business?
Here’s how to tell if being an extraordinary life coach will come naturally to you.
For over 40 years now, I’ve had the privilege of helping people unlock the power and potential within them to transform their dreams into results. And over the years, many people have come to me saying,
“Mary, I want to do what you’re doing. I want to coach and mentor people in creating lives that they love living, too. How can I do that?”
If you have a passion for helping others, and you feel called to be a life coach, there are plenty of skills that can be learned and developed.
But there are some traits that seem to come naturally to those life coaches that create extraordinary changes in the lives of their clients.
Here are five traits that you must embody in order to be a great life coach
Nail these 5 traits as you learn to life coach, and you’ll be well on your way.
1. You’re committed to your own personal growth.
Are you passionate about learning and applying transformational principles?
Are you willing to stretch yourself?
It’s the law of the universe that like attracts like.
So if you want to attract clients who are willing to grow and learn, you must also have the same willingness.
Bottom line:
Personal growth improves your awareness and identity, develops your talents, strengths and potential, enhances your quality of life and contributes to the realization of your dreams and goals.
As someone who wants to help others with all these things, it’s important you study them yourself.
2. You deeply care about people.
A successful life coach believes that people can have, be and do more, and that there’s a power in each and every person that’s more powerful – and each person has more potential – than any circumstance, situation or condition.
As a life coach who cares, you value forming and deepening relationships with your clients and truly want to help them transform their lives.
You know that your job is to help your clients evoke dreams and goals that will lead to lives they love living, and you know how to get them there.
How To Know If Becoming a Life Coach Is Right For You
3. You’re coachable.
All the great coaches I’ve known have had mentors in their lives – someone with a long track record in success, who deeply cared about that person and their goals, and who showed them how to achieve their dreams.
I believe that if you want to be a coach who helps your clients create dramatic results, you must be willing to learn from a mentor how not only to coach clients, but also how to build a successful coaching business.
4. You want to make a big impact in the world.
What kind of impact would you love to bring to the world? You have the power to decide what size game you want to play.
The good news is that you don’t have to coach thousands of people to have a big impact!
You can absolutely have a part-time coaching business and still make a significant difference in the lives of just a few people.
5. You love (and may already be) helping others.
One of the greatest signs that you’re going to be a successful life coach is that people in your life already call you for advice.
You may not be getting paid for it, but coaching others comes naturally to you.
Now, all you need to do is create a business around your inherent personality traits!
Let’s recap the 5 traits that you must embody in order to be a successful life coach
- You’re committed to your own personal growth.
- You deeply care about people, and value forming and deepening relationships with them.
- You’re coachable.
- You want to make a big impact.
- You’re already helping others live lives they love, even if you’re not getting paid.
If you find that you have any or ALL of these traits, becoming a life coach may be the perfect way for you to help others while creating a balanced life for yourself at the same time!
