Welcome to the September 2023 TranscenDance™ Tribune!
The TranscenDance™ Tribune is dedicated to nurturing our conscious dance community and celebrating the healing power of the mind-body-spirit connection. Members of the Brave Thinking Institute Health & Wellbeing Division receive this newsletter on the first Friday of every month, and it is also accessible online.
Our theme for September is Renewal & Rejuvenation! And one of the most effective ways to renew and rejuvenate in mind, body and spirit is through conscious movement. In this issue of the Tribune you’ll discover (or be invited to re-discover, as if for the first time) the rejuvenative power of conscious movement medicine. We’ll also uncover 7 powerful ways you can harvest good vibes this fall, which can also serve you all year long.
You’ll hear from Gabrielle Roth, one of the pioneers of conscious movement, about the power of slowing down and getting centered in your body. You’ll also meet Benjamin Blackett, a Level II TranscenDance™ Facilitator and retreat leader who is inspiring and empowering others on their journeys, as he has transformed his own life by learning to let the music dance him.
And you’ll discover how the numerology of the month of September invites us to tune into love, as the rhythms of conscious dance open our senses to the beauty surrounding us. For your next steps, our Facilitator Directory will give you resources for taking those bold new steps in the direction of your dream.
Revitalize Your Essence:
Embracing Renewal and Rejuvenation Through Movement Medicine
Amidst life’s bustling demands, we frequently neglect our need for rejuvenation, overlooking the importance of rekindling our inner vitality. Comparable to nature’s cyclical transformations, we, too, can access fresh reserves of energy through deliberate practices. One such transformative method is Movement Medicine – an intentional dance that revitalizes not only the body but also the spirit like our beloved TranscenDance™.
At its core, Movement Medicine is a dance with purpose. It commences with a profound acknowledgment of our breath’s rhythm, inviting in revitalizing energy with each inhalation and releasing stagnancy with every exhalation. This method extends beyond mere physical movement; it embraces mindful engagement with the body’s language. Begin with gentle stretches, allowing the body’s innate wisdom to guide each deliberate motion. This interaction between mind and body facilitates a form of catharsis, liberating pent-up emotions that might have long been concealed.
Stepping into the realm of Movement Medicine encourages an exploration of the stories that reside within us. In the same way, trees release their leaves, this practice empowers us to shed emotional burdens. As you dance, visualize these burdens dissipating, replaced by new found lightness. The interconnectedness of movement and release is a potent tool for letting go. Expression becomes paramount – each movement is a brushstroke on the canvas of our personal journey. Through Movement Medicine, gratitude blossoms for our bodies’ resilience and the experiences that shape us.
In a world that seldom pauses, self-care can inadvertently assume a backseat role. Yet, renewal transcends luxury; it’s a fundamental need. Movement Medicine offers a conduit to self-discovery – a path where renewal transforms from an abstract concept into a tangible experience. As you sway to your unique rhythm, relinquish what no longer serves, and allow the dance’s energy to replenish your being, you embark on a journey of profound revitalization.

Harvesting Good Vibes
7 Ways This Season Prepares US for What’s Next!
The harvest season carries unique vibrational and energetic qualities that resonate with various aspects of the human experience.
- Gratitude and Abundance: The harvest season is a time of reaping what has been sown. This can be seen as a reflection of the Law of Attraction, where the energy you put into the world returns to you. This is a time for gratitude for the abundance in our lives. Energetically, focusing on gratitude can attract more positivity into our lives.
- Completion and Release: As the year’s cycle comes to a close, the harvest season symbolizes completion and culmination. This is an energetic time to release what no longer serves us, much like the trees shedding their leaves. It’s a chance to let go of old patterns and habits, making space for new growth.
- Balance and Equilibrium: The equinox, which marks the start of the harvest season, is a moment of balance between day and night. This can serve as a reminder of the importance of balance in our own lives – between work and rest, activity and reflection, and the various aspects of our being.
- Reflection and Introspection: With the days getting shorter and the nights longer, the harvest season naturally encourages more time spent indoors. This provides an opportunity for introspection and inner reflection. Energetically, it’s a time to delve into your thoughts and emotions, seeking insights and understanding.
- Preparation for Renewal: Harvest is a preparation for the winter months, a time of rest and renewal for the earth. Similarly, this season can prompt us to prepare for our own periods of rest and introspection. Energetically, it’s a time to recharge, set intentions for the future, and gather strength for the next cycle.
- Connection to Nature: The harvest season’s energy is closely tied to the natural world. Engaging with the earth’s rhythms during this time can help us feel more grounded and connected. Activities like walking in nature, gardening, or simply observing the changing leaves can foster this connection.
- Cycles of Life: The harvest season is a reminder of the cyclical nature of life. Just as crops are planted, grow, and are eventually harvested, our own lives move through cycles of growth, fruition, and release. This understanding can offer comfort and perspective during challenging times.
In essence, the vibrational and energetic qualities of the harvest season encourage us to embrace gratitude, release the old, seek balance, reflect on our journey, prepare for renewal, connect with nature, and understand the cyclical nature of life. These energies provide an opportunity for personal growth, mindfulness, and alignment with the rhythms of the natural world.

5 Rhythms of Gabrielle Roth
In Honor of this month’s theme of Renewal & Rejuvenation, we share this bit of insight from Gabrielle Roth, from Conscious Dancer Magazine Fall 2008 (with permission).
“When we are centered it doesn’t matter what is going on in the world—the inner or the outer world. We can learn to maintain our equilibrium. When an athlete is in the “zone,” the whole game slows down in her or his awareness, regardless of how fast it is moving. Slow dancing with chaos, finding our zone in this modern maelstrom, is not only spiritual practice—it is survival art. May we move together in the heartbeat of our wild and crazy world!”
Rhythm is a refuge,
movement is medicine,
and energy is a language.
-Gabrielle Roth-
What better way is there to Renew oneself than to slow down and be in the Zone with our beautiful selves.
The Facilitator Spotlight
Shine Your Light
Making Waves and Taking Names in the World of Transformation.
We would like to introduce to you Level II TranscenDance™ Facilitator Benjamin Blackett.
Not too long ago, Benjamin was experiencing body confidence issues. He took modern dance in college in his 20s to remedy feelings of disconnection from his own physicality, but to no avail. He was often tripping and bumping into things, and felt like he had three left feet. The rhythm of life eluded him, and he felt like a misfit in his own body.
Fast forward to 2020, he candidly confessed to Jennifer Joy Jiménez,
“I can’t find my way to a beat out of a brown paper bag.”
His movements were labored, his confidence less than stellar, and his dreams seemed distant.
But Benjamin’s dreams refused to be dimmed. He longed to lead adventure retreats, to inspire and empower others on their journey of life. He was having a hard time imagining he could be the person doing all of these things, as he was carrying himself apologetically with his shoulders hunched over and his head forward and down.
At a Brave Thinking Institute event he approached Jennifer to get advice about adding more joy, play, and possibly energizers to his vision workshops, as a certified Life Mastery Consultant. He wanted a referral to find someone to come and lead movement activities for his workshops. Instead, Jennifer suggested that it could be possible for Benjamin to do it, if he desired to be even more embodied, confident, and connected to his own inner rhythms.
She invited him to come attend the next TranscenDance™️ training, on the personal development track. He said yes, and everything Benjamin thought he knew as the truth about himself and his body was about to change.
To Benjamin’s surprise, each TranscenDance™️ class unlocked more and more healing within. He slowly stopped thinking about his movement from a place of intellect, and began to move from a place of intuition. Step by step, he found his way back to his body, to movement, and to a deeper truth.
With each movement, he began rebuilding his dreams, laying the foundation for a remarkable transformation.
His very relationship with his body transformed as he danced to the music of his own soul. “Five or six classes into my training with Jennifer,” he shares,
“I felt the music dance me for the first time.”
It was 6 months later at the TranscenDance™ immersion training that he would discover body shame he didn’t know he had. Through the practices, processes and movement of the intensive he found deep healing, increased confidence and an absolute body confidence breakthrough!
Not long after his training, in the process of completing his Dancertation, to his great surprise, he fell in love with holding space for others to unleash their inner dancers.
Benjamin now stands tall, his head held high, shoulders back and he walks with great confidence. Where once he felt ashamed to dance in front of others, he now dances uninhibitedly like everyone is watching. He still surprises himself when he steps forward in public settings to dance freely in front of all on the dance floor.
And oh, many milestones have followed. Today, Benjamin hosts monthly TranscenDance™ classes both online and in person. He’s been invited as a special guest speaker and TranscenDance™ Facilitator at retreats and festivals. He is delighted to serve TranscenDance™ participants all over the world, including students from France, Australia, Pakistan, Austria, Mexico and Canada!
As a speaker, Benjamin has shared the stage alongside influential figures such as Mat Boggs, John Boggs, Jack Canfield, Jennifer Joy Jiménez and Mary Morrissey herself. Recently, he was featured in the Natural Awakenings magazine and has also been seen on CBS News, ABC, NBC, and FOX.
Benjamin is now actively hosting Kickstart Your Dream Retreats in France, with the next one coming up in June of 2024. His mission, once a whisper, now fully embodied is to help guide a million lives to their dreams by 2033.
Today, as we celebrate Benjamin Blackett, we honor his courage, resilience, and the remarkable transformation he embodies. His story is a testament to the human spirit’s boundless capacity for growth, a reminder that even the most challenging struggles can become stepping stones to empowerment.
Benjamin’s journey isn’t just about dance. It’s about embracing dreams, transcending limitations, and inspiring others to do the same.
It’s an invitation for all of us to embark on our own heroic journey, to dance through our challenges, and to emerge as the heroes of our own lives.

September 2023 numerology
In the realm of numerology, September 2023 is poised to be a month of profound significance. As we embrace the energies of this month, let’s first turn our focus towards love, the cornerstone of our human experience. This period holds a special place for nurturing and fortifying our relationships, urging us to embark on journeys of transformative love. If you’ve been contemplating taking your bond to new heights, now is the time to summon your courage and step into uncharted territories of emotional connection.
But that’s not all: the artistic dimensions of our souls will be illuminated during this time. As we sway to the rhythm of conscious dance, our senses will become finely attuned to the beauty of art in all its forms. The aesthetic world will intertwine with our spirits, evoking a newfound appreciation for creativity. We will not only witness the splendor of artistic expressions, but we’ll also find ourselves becoming vessels of creativity, as if the dance itself ignites the dormant flames of inspiration within us.
In the numerological tapestry, September 2023 is akin to a blank canvas, a fresh page eagerly awaiting the strokes of our intentions. It heralds the dawn of new beginnings and offers a landscape ripe for exploration. As we move to the rhythm of TranscenDance™, we can harness this invigorating energy to set ambitious goals and chart unexplored paths. It’s a call to embrace personal growth, to stand at the crossroads and consciously choose the directions that align with our deepest values and aspirations.
