Give yourself the gift of inner-peace with 3 easy-to-use holiday meditations to help you get into the holiday spirit.
The holiday season often invites a whirlwind of joy, celebrations, and gatherings with loved ones. Amidst the bustling festivities, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or stressed.
But, it doesn’t have to be this way! Introducing the practice of meditation can offer a sense of calm and grounding to your holiday rush.
6 Reasons Meditation is a Great Addition to Your Favorite Holiday
1. Stress Reduction: The holidays can (and usually do!) elevate stress levels. Meditation helps us detach from the chaos and find small moments of stillness. Through focused breathing and mindfulness, it helps reduce cortisol levels, calm the mind, and lower stress.
2. Cultivating Mindfulness: Being present in the moment helps us cherish each interaction, meal, or experience. With meditation, we can foster a deeper connection with the true meaning of the holiday season. Meditating can help you enjoy the connections and experiences of the holidays more deeply.
3. Enhancing Emotional Resilience: The holidays might evoke a lot of emotions, from joy to nostalgia and even sadness. Meditation helps us acknowledge these feelings without judgment, supporting acceptance and inner peace no matter what might come up.
4. Boosting Mental Clarity: Between shopping lists and to-do lists, clarity can feel hard to come by during the holidays. Meditation improves cognitive function, helping us focus on what truly matters even in the midst of what can feel like chaos.
5. Deepening Gratitude: Meditation gives us the opportunity to reflect on our blessings. This helps us tap into a profound sense of gratitude for the present moment and the relationships that enrich their lives.
6. Strengthening Relationships: Perhaps the best part of the holiday season is spending quality time with loved ones. Meditation can help us create deeper connections by being fully present and engaged during those cherished moments… and even help us navigate challenging relationships and conflict more easily. As much as we might not want disagreements to happen this time of year, they can and do!

Christmas Meditation 1: Visualize the Holiday Season You’d Love
After Thanksgiving, it’s easy to be overwhelmed with the whirlwind of the upcoming holiday season. Most people are making plans and hoping to create holiday experiences that go well and make lasting memories. All the dinner planning, getting plane tickets to visit family, or buying the presents in time can feel like a lot!
This is a simple visualization technique that can help you create new, relaxing, and more positive holiday outcomes!
Try this: Take a few moments of quiet and think about how you’d love the holiday season to look and feel. As vividly as you can, imagine different holiday scenarios going exactly as you’d love them to go. Be as specific as you can.
For instance, would you love a peaceful family dinner filled with stories and laughter? Would watching a Christmas movie with your kids with popcorn and giggles make your holidays feel complete? Would you love to spend time holiday decorating together as a family before going ice skating at your local outdoor rink?
Perhaps you’d just love to feel excited and liberated because you have more than enough to cover all the expenses that come with celebrating the holidays.
Whatever it is that you’d love this season, imagine it as if it’s actually happening. Challenge yourself to be specific and picture as many details as you can. Take your visualization a step further by focusing on also feeling the feelings you’d experience in each imagined scenario.
Just by doing this simple practice you’ll feel a sense of calm and clarity, even amidst the stress. Even better, you’ll signal the Universe the kind of holiday you want. Don’t be surprised when, before you know it, opportunities to make those imagined experiences real begin to appear.
Christmas Meditation 2: The Power of “In” Gratitude
When we’re stressed out about choosing which side of the family to spend the holidays with, planning “the perfect” dinner, or the financial strain of present-giving, it can be easy to lose sight of the blessings we already have.
Thankfully, gratitude is a powerful mood booster, and it’s perfect to shift your energy into an expansive frequency. When you tap into gratitude, you automatically release negative emotions!
You may have practiced gratitude before, but consider this:
Most of us feel grateful for the things, people, experiences we enjoy in our life. That’s what we call “For” gratitude, because we’re grateful for what we have.
But, there’s an even deeper level of gratitude that can bring you a higher sense of inner peace. I call this “In” gratitude. “In” gratitude means finding gratitude in any situation you find yourself– even if it’s a challenging circumstance.
This approach lets you cultivate gratitude independent of external situations – and become more positive, calm and resilient.
Practice cultivating this powerful mindset shift with this simple gratitude meditation:
Try this: Take a moment to close your eyes and take a deep breath.
Step 1: Begin by generating a state of gratitude for the present moment.
Say to yourself, “I’m alive. I’ve been given the gift of life and a brand new baby day that’s never been lived before.
No one else gets to live this day. No one else gets to choose how I will use this gift I’ve been given. I choose to be grateful for the opportunity to live this day.”
Step 2: Then, bring your attention to the things in your life you are grateful FOR in this moment.
Express gratitude for the people and things you already have in your life this Christmas season. You can express gratitude for things like your home, your job, your pets, and your health. You might also consider less tangible things like your freedom, emotions, or experiences.
Step 3: Continue by bringing to mind the things you can find gratitude IN.
These may be challenges, difficult situations, or obstacles you’re facing this time of year. Consider offering gratitude for the lessons you’re learning or creative solutions you will discover, even if you don’t know what those are yet.
Doing so not only raises your vibration, but helps open your heart and your mind to the expectation that things are working out for your best and highest good.
Use this as often as you like. And remember, you can only experience the benefits of gratitude if you practice it!
