And I have another good one for you today because we’re going to talk about something that comes up often. Many of you have asked, how do you come up with content ideas for your coaching business?

Like, I’d love to be one of those people that seems to have endless content ideas. So I want to talk about a lot of things around this, especially when it comes to your marketing, your social media, your emails, like how do you write new or compelling, interesting things. So I want to start with any idea or feeling of writer’s block that you may have.

So if you’re someone who’s experiencing writer’s block like this feeling that I never know what to write, I never what know what to say, it’s hard to come up with things, then this is going to be so helpful for you. First and foremost, I want you to know it’s easy to look around the world and think that everybody else just has endless content ideas.

But my first mindset tip for you is not to, assume that everybody else just has it figured out. That is a no win strategy when it comes to mindset. We call that comparison despair. Look over there. They’re always come up with great social media posts and I’m not coming up with anything. And the truth is, you have no idea what that person’s internal process was like.

Maybe they cried all day and then finally knocked out a couple of social media posts and you’re looking going, oh, it’s so easy for them. So unless you’ve spoken to them and they’ve said, oh, this is really easy for me, and I just come up with 20 new content pieces a week, then don’t make an assumption that you’re somehow lacking.

That’s the first mindset mistake it causes comparison despair, and it’s going to make it even harder for you to write your content. A lot of what it comes to writing content is going to be about your mindset around it. Now I’m going to give you all the tips and strategies and tools, but no matter, I could tell you tools until I’m blue in the face, so to speak.

And if you’re still telling yourself in your mind, I’m not a good writer, I have nothing to say. I don’t know what to do. Then all the strategy isn’t going to help you. So that’s why I’m really wanting you to address the mindset first. The first is get rid of the comparison. Despair. First and foremost. But the second thing is to tell yourself, just start telling yourself now, even if you don’t feel it.

I do have a lot of content because I’m living a human life, you know, while it is to be in human birth, like, do you ever just look around me like, what am I doing here? There’s so much content. You’re in relationships every day. You’re out in the world. Every day you’re thinking about things every day. So there really is you’re you’re attending whatever you’re attending every day.

There’s so much content all around you. And so the first thing you’re going to want to flip the switch on is stop telling yourself that there’s nothing to write about, that it’s blank, that you have writer’s block tell a different story. Unless you love that story. You love the story of being stuck. Stop telling that story. I’ll tell you a funny story that we sometimes tell in our programs.

It’s a really bad joke, but it really demonstrates what we tend to do to ourselves. So, there’s four guys playing golf, and, there’s two sets of force, two foursomes, playing golf. And the first foursome gets done with the whole game, all 18 holes, and then they’re waiting for the second group, waiting for the second group.

And the second group comes to finally into the pro shop. And they’re like, gosh, you guys were like, took forever. What took you so long? And they said, oh my gosh. On the ninth hole, Harry had a heart attack and he died. So after that, it was just hit the ball and drag. Harry hit the drag. Harry such a terrible joke.

Like, who would do that? I guess people that love golf. But here’s the deal and here’s why I’m telling you that joke. A lot of us drag Harry’s around. We literally carry dead weight on us, which is old stories about ourself, old beliefs about ourself, limiting beliefs about ourselves. And we drag ourselves down and we waste time because we’re literally dragging the Harry of our own life around.

And so if you’ve had writer’s block in the past or you haven’t known what to write in the past, you got to decide, do I want to keep telling that story? Is that who I want to be? The person that stuck? Because if it’s not, then get a new story. Tell a new story. Tell a news story that you’re an excellent writer, that you’re seeing content ideas all around you, that every day you’re having experiences that lead you to be able to write and teach and add value to people’s lives.

Tell yourself that story for a day, and you’re going to see that it changes, because ultimately, thinking creates all of our resolved thinking becomes feelings, becomes actions become results. That is how results occur. And I know it’s easy to look outside yourself or look at a problem and think that that’s what’s causing your result. But ultimately, the way you think about the world is actually what causes the results.

Let me just illustrate this with another story. It’s going to seem a little off topic from creating content, but I promise you it’s related. I was just in a group, so we have a group, here at Brave Thinking Institute of Coaches that are what I call they are in our impact club. So we if they’ve coached 50 clients, they’re in our 50 impact club.

If they’ve coached 150 clients, they’re in our 150 Impact Club and so on and so forth. So I was meeting with our 50 Impact Club coaches and to get into this club that meets once a month, you have to be active in a program and you have to have either enrolled 50 clients or sold $50,000 in lifetime revenue.

And the reason we do that is because it creates this high level conversation among coaches who are really out there moving and shaking. So I was on that call today, and one of our clients said that she was having challenges with her pricing for her coaching business because she was, thinking that the way she was thinking about pricing it, her clients wouldn’t be able to afford.

And I said to her, you know, it’s interesting because we think we know our clients so well, so intimately that we would know what they can afford, not afford. And so I told her a story that when I had my own business, I had there were several clients who I worked with for a long time that seemed to have money challenges.

And I priced my programs low because I wanted everybody to have access and blah, blah, blah. And then I moved to Brave Thinking Institute and those same clients who I told myself couldn’t afford a higher price program and all of that purchased $50,000 programs at Brave Thinking Institute, highest level retreat program. There was a client who I always thought like, oh, she’s not going to be able to invest in my next level program, who’s invested in three different programs with Brave Thinking Institute and probably invested, I don’t know, 50 or $60,000 in her personal development.

Why do I share that story? Because it wasn’t actually that she couldn’t afford my program. It’s that that’s the story that I was telling. And when someone who wasn’t telling that story started offering her all sorts of wonderful, fun, amazing things she could do to grow her life and her business, she was all in every time. The truth is that what you are thinking is what happens in life. It even says it in the Bible. As a man thinketh, so is he. It’s literally how you think is what creates the result. Look at all those people around me who are better than me. That’s the problem, I promise you. That’s the problem. Way beyond the strategy and everything else you think that it is. So I want you thinking thoughts about I am a great content creator. I see content all around me all day long. I write it down, I notice it, I’m great at posting it. I’m great at writing emails. So that’s the mindset piece. Now let’s talk about where you can get endless content ideas. So where you can get endless content ideas first and foremost is using the principles that you teach. Now, if you’re not using the principles you teach, you got to go solve that problem. But we want to we want to say, actually, that’s extraordinary because if you’re a weight loss coach and you’re doing a really great job, healthy lifestyle, 80% of the people on the planet probably maybe like 90, don’t have that lifestyle.

If you’re a life coach and you have a morning journaling practice and you are journaling every morning with your cup of coffee, there are people all over the world who wish that they could have a practice like that. Like they’re whatever you’re living, whatever you’re kind of coaching you do or you’re dreaming of doing. For those of you who want to become a certified coach and anything that you’re doing that’s helpful for a person in the in the thing that you would have your coaching expertise is what you post. I mean, go on the morning journaling. If you’re a life coach and or you’re, you know, a like a help you with stress and overwhelm coach or a spiritual coach or a meditation coach or whatever, it is a yoga teacher. I don’t care what it is. And you do a morning journaling practice. Low hanging fruit is just take a picture of your journal and your coffee, or your cup of tea and say, I’ve been in a morning journaling practice for this many years.

Here’s how I find time to do it. Here’s what I write about that is giving people high value. You already do it, you already know it. And that’s something super easy to write about or post. So this is like, look at how you’re living the principles that you teach in your daily life. If you’re meditate then write about that.

Take a picture of yourself doing it. Take a picture of your little CD player or your chimes or whatever it is, your yoga mat. Take a selfie of yourself laying on the yoga mat. Write an email about it. You’re already doing it, you’re already good at it, and you’re doing something that most people on planet Earth don’t know how to do.

So if you’re looking for clients, if you’re trying to attract clients through your content, just be an example of the principles that you teach. You’re living it all day long. Here’s the other super high value part about this. People are going to buy from people they know they like and they trust. And so how can they buy from you if they don’t know you and like you?

They can’t like you unless they know you and they can’t know you unless you’re you’re helping them get to know you through your post posting also opens up a more vulnerable, authentic part to yourself, which is ultimately, especially nowadays, why people buy. So let me give you an insight into this. Don’t just post about how good you are.

For example, if you’re a weight loss coach eating healthier, you want to be a life coach and attract clients. Don’t just post about when you’re good at it. Post it when you’re not good at it. Post about when you’re not good at it. So for example, if you have just a shitty morning and you’re like, you know, I didn’t do my journal and then I got in a mood, and then I was mean to my kids right about that.

Because people don’t want a perfect coach. They want a real, authentic. I feel like this person can help me, not because there’s some guru on a pedestal, but because they’ve been there and they’re actively navigating it, and they’re ahead of me because they’re able to talk about it, they’re able to navigate it. So if that’s you, you skipped your morning journaling practice, make a post about that.

Be vulnerable. Say, hey, if any coach tells you they’re perfect, they got another thing coming to them because there is no perfect coach. This morning. I miss my journaling. I was in a foul mood. So being authentic about not just how good you are at following the principles that you teach, but when you don’t do well now, how would that actually translate into clients? Well, first of all, with organic marketing of that nature, meaning you’re not paying for advertising, you’re posting, you’re writing emails, you’re doing that kind of thing.

Not every post has to be a sales post. In other words, sometimes just building value over time. Getting to know people over time is the greatest thing. With that said, you can make a call to action on there. And here’s what I mean by a call to action on that post. They don’t love you going to another website because they want people to stay on their platforms, that their advertising dollars go up and up and up. And so you have to say something like hey, leave a comment, drop a DM which you actually want as a business person because you want that engagement with the client. It gives you data, whereas if you just drop the link, you don’t really know who clicks it. You can’t really track that. So it’s not as engaging for you and for them to get to know each other. Okay, definite techniques is using the principles you teach and just posting about that. Second thing is, if you’re actively serving clients already, you can actually go into your social media, whatever you’re using, and you can tell that client story.

Now, you don’t even have to use their name. You can just say, hey, I was on a client session today. The client was struggling with this. Here’s the feedback I gave them in a support I gave them. If I can help you with this information? And that does a couple things. One, when your clients are having success and they’re overcoming something, it shows your competence as a coach. But really, I have that leverage now because I’ve given massive, massive value over the course of my career. They buy access. People can find content all over the world. There’s never been more free content. But if they’re aware they’re seeing God, I have all this free content and I’m still not having the result I want.

That’s why they get coaching. And it’s true, all of us. That’s why I have a coach. If you’re using them every day, talk about them. Talk about your client sessions. Give tons of value. You earned the right to make a call to action. You can make a call to action on every post like we talked about and what you’re already doing that’s related to your business.
