Here Are 3 Piece-of-Cake Practices to Re-Ignite Your Motivation, Gain Momentum and Live Into Your Vision
With 2019 here, this is a great time to hit the refresh button your New Year’s resolutions (read more about New Year’s)!
Are you absolutely full steam ahead or have you lost some of your inspiration? Are you making progress or do you already find yourself underperforming and not producing the results you’d really love?
No matter where you find yourself at this very moment with your goals, this is NOT the time to berate yourself.
You’re actually in a great place! You’re reading this blog post. Not everybody reads blog posts on personal development. You’re interested in growth – not everybody is.
So give yourself a pat on the back.
And today I’d love to share three powerful practices that you can implement to ensure progress with anything that you want to achieve.
How to Keep New Year’s Resolutions All Year
New Year’s Resolution Progress Practice #1: Take one step a day
This is SO simple, but taking one step a day produces much bigger results than you might think. You can take one step in just five minutes!
As you begin to build momentum by making sure that every single day you take a baby step, something very powerful happens. In six months from now, you could be in a whole new place! Think about it like this: Baby steps will take you all the way up Mount Everest if you just keep taking them.
So what’s one baby step you can take today to move you closer to your goals?
New Year’s Resolution Progress Practice #2: Celebrate little wins
It’s common to think you have to complete the entire goal or have some major breakthroughs before you can celebrate. But when you consistently celebrate the little things, you tell your brain to continue going after your goal.
Maybe you succeeded at being fully present while reading a book with your son or daughter. You weren’t thinking about the sixteen other things that needed to be done or checking your phone. Perhaps this activity is in alignment with your goal to be the mother or father you want to be this year. This deserves to be celebrated!
Whatever goals you set, if you find yourself even making some progress with being the person who is delivering the goal, living into the dream that you want or taking a five-minute baby step, that’s a win.
So celebrate that win!
New Year’s Resolution Progress Practice #3: Practice positive self-talk
What kinds of words or phrases do you say to yourself every day? When you walk past a mirror, are the words going through your mind something you would say to a friend?
Many of us, from the time we were born, heard some pretty pretty negative, critical and diminishing words in our homes. And once we moved out or our families stopped saying these things to us, we continued to say these words or phrases to ourselves.
After years of repetition, the way we speak to ourselves has become an unconscious habit.
The good news is that you can consciously choose to say nicer things to yourself!
A great phrase to start with is,
“Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better.”
Emile Coue said that many years ago and it’s made a huge difference for a lot of people.
By incorporating these 3 Progress Practices into your daily routine, you’ll start seeing even more traction!
I invite you to incorporate these 3 Progress Practices into your life for the next 30 days in a row:
- Take a baby step.
- Celebrate the little wins.
- Practice positive self-talk.
If you consciously make these practices a habit for 30 days, you’re most likely going to find that you’ll start seeing some traction on your New Year’s resolutions and that 2019 will easily become much more like the dream that you had at the beginning of the year.
So what’s one empowering step that you might take today? If you’ve gotten little distracted and find that you’re falling into your previous habits and patterns, let’s get you back on track!
Remember, you made your New Year’s resolutions because they matter to you.
So go ahead and share with us in the comments section below what you’re going to do in just five minutes today to move yourself closer toward your resolutions??????
When you share, you just might inspire someone else to take action, too.

Thank you Mary for the 3 simple steps. It had me smiling all the way.
Taking one step at a time to reach one’s goal is is so much easier that looking at the big mountain of work set before you.
Celebrating little wins is a confidence booster and gives hope that the goal is achievable if we chip away little by little that mountain can disappear.
Positive self talk is so much better than negativity.
