Lauren Brollier Newton
All right, well, welcome back to The Abundant Coach. And this particular interview is something that is years in the making because I have been following our next guest for, oh my gosh, I guess it’s been I’m aging all of us. It’s been over a decade since I’ve been following our next guest and maybe closer to 15 years. And, I’m so thrilled to interview her.
00;00;50;02 – 00;01;11;04
Lauren Brollier Newton
So Melissa Pepping is someone who has created multiple seven figure businesses in many different arenas, and she did it living in a town of 73 people. So all you coaches who tell me I don’t have a network, I don’t know anybody. I live in a small town. I live in too big a town. We’re going to really, really get down into that topic today.
00;01;11;06 – 00;01;32;04
Lauren Brollier Newton
And she found herself at a point in 2010 where she had, I believe it was $7.43 in her checking account. And so she wanted to make a change. And so she’s going to come and talk to us about how she has, over the years, really supported women in their beauty, their mindset and empowerment and confidence. And I couldn’t think of a better person to support all of us today.
00;01;32;04 – 00;01;35;16
Lauren Brollier Newton
So Melissa, thank you so much for your willingness to be on the show.
00;01;35;19 – 00;01;38;00
Melissa Poepping
Thank you for having me. It’s an honor to be here.
00;01;38;02 – 00;01;44;24
Lauren Brollier Newton
I want to hear about the starts. I want to go all the way back to 2010. And, I mean, I think it takes so much courage.
00;01;44;27 – 00;01;46;03
Lauren Brollier Newton
To.
00;01;46;05 – 00;01;56;19
Lauren Brollier Newton
Start an entrepreneurial endeavor in a town of 73 people when you’ve got less than ten bucks in your checking account. So tell us not only about what that scenario was, but how did you get the courage?
00;01;56;22 – 00;02;01;06
Melissa Poepping
Well, there were a few things to navigate around that because my husband is a very private man.
00;02;01;09 – 00;02;04;02
Melissa Poepping
And here I am like.
00;02;04;04 – 00;02;09;14
Melissa Poepping
Full transparency. I leave nothing on the table. So that was like one of the biggest hurdles to have to get around.
00;02;09;17 – 00;02;11;20
Melissa Poepping
And you know, when when you’re when you’re.
00;02;11;20 – 00;02;24;29
Melissa Poepping
From a small town and it’s very traditional settings, very conventional settings and everyone has, you know, conventional job, it’s a rural community. And the average income per year per person.
00;02;25;02 – 00;02;26;09
Melissa Poepping
On state.
00;02;26;09 – 00;02;46;14
Melissa Poepping
Government census for the town that I live in, when we decided this was back in 2000, in 2000, when, you know, I was getting married to Wayne and really just looking at the future. And I’ve always been such a daydreamer. Like at the age of ten, I knew that I had to make $83,333.33 a month to make $1 million a year.
00;02;46;16 – 00;02;46;23
Melissa Poepping
At.
00;02;46;23 – 00;02;52;11
Melissa Poepping
The age of ten. I knew that at the age of ten, I started my first business. Do you remember the books the Baby-Sitters club?
00;02;52;13 – 00;02;53;03
Lauren Brollier Newton
Oh, yeah.
00;02;53;06 – 00;02;56;17
Melissa Poepping
I started a Baby-Sitters club, but I was too young to babysit.
00;02;56;19 – 00;03;00;14
Melissa Poepping
So I had to, like, I had to scout out the.
00;03;00;14 – 00;03;07;22
Melissa Poepping
Girls that were old enough to babysit. I aligned the babysitting jobs for them and then took a small percentage of it.
00;03;07;25 – 00;03;08;10
Lauren Brollier Newton
So great.
00;03;08;10 – 00;03;12;29
Melissa Poepping
I love that. I was like, yeah, it was fantastic.
00;03;12;29 – 00;03;14;24
Melissa Poepping
I was just the operation center of it.
00;03;14;24 – 00;03;16;13
Melissa Poepping
And then I loved it all out.
00;03;16;16 – 00;03;22;15
Melissa Poepping
I realized there were some flaws in my plan, because I should have been taking like a 25% commission, and I think it was just like a dollar per.
00;03;22;15 – 00;03;23;19
Melissa Poepping
Like gig.
00;03;23;19 – 00;03;25;06
Melissa Poepping
I set up for them.
00;03;25;09 – 00;03;26;14
Lauren Brollier Newton
But. So I’ve always.
00;03;26;14 – 00;03;28;20
Melissa Poepping
Been this vision. You’re so visionary.
00;03;28;22 – 00;03;30;06
Melissa Poepping
And so when.
00;03;30;13 – 00;03;37;13
Melissa Poepping
I realized we were going to be moving out to the country, which is only 20 miles from my own hometown.
00;03;37;16 – 00;03;39;22
Melissa Poepping
But I wanted to look at, like, you know, what is.
00;03;39;22 – 00;03;50;05
Melissa Poepping
In Springhill and what is this like? And you know, what’s it going to be like? And that’s where I stumbled upon, you know, what is the average income per person? What’s the what’s the per capita?
00;03;50;07 – 00;03;50;19
Melissa Poepping
It was like.
00;03;50;19 – 00;03;53;17
Melissa Poepping
$12,600 per year per person.
00;03;53;19 – 00;03;54;18
Melissa Poepping
And I just.
00;03;54;20 – 00;03;58;13
Melissa Poepping
Remember saying this to myself, I’m going to change the census. I’m going to put such a.
00;03;58;15 – 00;03;59;24
Melissa Poepping
Dent in that.
00;03;59;24 – 00;04;01;26
Melissa Poepping
Census report, they’re not going to know what to.
00;04;01;26 – 00;04;07;01
Melissa Poepping
Do. And in 2000, it would have been 2000.
00;04;07;03 – 00;04;12;13
Melissa Poepping
This teen, the census reports were like, do.
00;04;12;18 – 00;04;18;22
Melissa Poepping
Now I had no it would have been it was like 20. It was just before the 20, would.
00;04;18;22 – 00;04;30;06
Melissa Poepping
Have been I had already sold savvy had already sold my first makeup company. So it must have been like 2017, 2018. They were preparing for the 2020, you know, numbers or whatever.
00;04;30;08 – 00;04;30;28
Melissa Poepping
So I was so.
00;04;30;28 – 00;04;51;17
Melissa Poepping
Excited that this came because I had made the top rank in the MLM I was in. I had my my books had just sold over half a million copies, and I sold my cosmetics line, which was a massive, massive multi-million dollar deal. So here we have like the trifecta, right?
00;04;51;17 – 00;04;58;07
Melissa Poepping
I’m like this. Them knocking this out of the ballpark. Yes, the Census Bureau.
00;04;58;07 – 00;05;01;14
Melissa Poepping
Agents aren’t going to know what to do with this.
00;05;01;17 – 00;05;02;21
Melissa Poepping
People excited? I get the.
00;05;02;21 – 00;05;05;11
Melissa Poepping
Form and I’m pulling it out. I’m filling in all the numbers.
00;05;05;16 – 00;05;06;22
Melissa Poepping
I think I skipped.
00;05;06;27 – 00;05;30;16
Melissa Poepping
To the mailbox like doing a happy dance before. Way. Fast forward six. Whatever. Months later and I get a phone call from a Census Bureau agent and they said, we need to go over your census results because there were some errors in your reporting. So we just need to verify, because when we asked for income, we were looking at monthly income and not combined.
00;05;30;16 – 00;05;41;21
Melissa Poepping
And I think you wrote down the annual and combined all of the household, but oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. What number did I write down? And he told me, no, that’s right. That’s monthly. And that’s just me.
00;05;41;24 – 00;05;46;17
Melissa Poepping
And there was like this little lunch on the phone. And so me.
00;05;46;17 – 00;05;49;00
Melissa Poepping
As one person, I put such a massive.
00;05;49;00 – 00;05;50;11
Melissa Poepping
Ding in the.
00;05;50;11 – 00;05;59;23
Melissa Poepping
Overall census that it went from that 12,000. I think now when you look at it, it’s like 30,000 something per year per person, because of course, you know, it averages.
00;05;59;25 – 00;06;00;13
Melissa Poepping
Out among.
00;06;00;13 – 00;06;01;26
Melissa Poepping
The whole population.
00;06;01;28 – 00;06;04;04
Melissa Poepping
So I’ve always just seen.
00;06;04;04 – 00;06;05;07
Melissa Poepping
Things as.
00;06;05;09 – 00;06;06;17
Melissa Poepping
I don’t know what what can be.
00;06;06;17 – 00;06;21;00
Melissa Poepping
Bigger, how can this be bigger? Like if left to my own imagination and I just let it swirl around in my own head, that’s where the power is. That’s where the magic is. So yeah, from a from a town of 68 people. Now it’s getting smaller.
00;06;21;03 – 00;06;35;17
Lauren Brollier Newton
I love that. So, Melissa, when I think of you, this is just total random question. Now, just coming to my mind, if I were to think of you in my mind, I would think glamor, I would think glamorous, I would think beauty, I would think all of those things. So I also live in a in a small town.
00;06;35;17 – 00;06;49;03
Lauren Brollier Newton
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area, so I grew up in the middle of the big city, and I moved to Cody, Wyoming, because I wanted to live a smaller town life. And so, I’m curious if you’ve ever had dreams of like, oh, I want to live in Paris, or I want to live in New York City.
00;06;49;03 – 00;06;53;08
Melissa Poepping
Or all the time, I love that, but here’s the deal.
00;06;53;08 – 00;07;02;08
Melissa Poepping
Nothing my my small town, you know, there’s a lot of stereotypes to get over. There was a lot of paradigms to break down and dismantle.
00;07;02;10 – 00;07;03;25
Lauren Brollier Newton
00;07;03;28 – 00;07;16;05
Melissa Poepping
I show up how I am, like, I show up how I am, I’m wearing Chanel, I’m wearing, you know, Christian Louboutins to church. I don’t care, you know, I’ve got the big floppy hat.
00;07;16;05 – 00;07;17;04
Melissa Poepping
Like I am.
00;07;17;11 – 00;07;19;18
Melissa Poepping
It’s like a scene straight out of Schitt’s Creek.
00;07;19;21 – 00;07;25;20
Melissa Poepping
Like I am Moira, I am here, I don’t care, like. And it took me a really.
00;07;25;20 – 00;07;36;11
Melissa Poepping
Long time to get to that point, because for a long time I did care and it did matter. And I started realizing, if I’m suppressing me because I’m trying to be who I think.
00;07;36;13 – 00;07;37;02
Melissa Poepping
They want.
00;07;37;02 – 00;07;49;15
Melissa Poepping
Me to be or who I think she thinks I am, or if I’m trying to not. There’s too much I lost myself in that actually fell into a really deep depression. And so I really needed to dive back to that core.
00;07;49;15 – 00;07;51;03
Melissa Poepping
Of who am I?
00;07;51;03 – 00;08;13;05
Melissa Poepping
And what sets my soul on fire, because I can’t serve anybody if I’m only showing up at 25%, if I’m only showing up at 50%. And so I really had to get to this place of truly, madly, deeply, obsessively falling in love with myself and and then being able to actually show people what possible. A couple of years ago, we did a massive remodel on our house.
00;08;13;05 – 00;08;19;00
Melissa Poepping
And, you know, I hear things like people say, oh, you know, the comments. I’m like, I don’t care.
00;08;19;02 – 00;08;20;06
Melissa Poepping
And but when I.
00;08;20;06 – 00;08;33;09
Melissa Poepping
Hear more of is, it’s so awesome to see what is actually possible and what can actually be achieved. And so that’s what I lean into. That’s what I step into. But there’s been a lot of growth to get to that point.
00;08;33;11 – 00;08;36;24
Melissa Poepping
But I show up as, as I am. And you know what?
00;08;36;24 – 00;08;37;25
Melissa Poepping
I love to live in Paris.
00;08;37;26 – 00;08;38;27
Melissa Poepping
Of course, I would love to live in.
00;08;38;27 – 00;08;39;09
Melissa Poepping
Paris.
00;08;39;09 – 00;08;45;27
Melissa Poepping
But my small town is the most gorgeous, most beautiful you just filled with.
00;08;45;29 – 00;08;56;23
Melissa Poepping
And I’m I’m talking esthetically. I mean, we’re just we’re a bunch of farms. But what we stand for and the community and the culture, I love it. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. And we really have built.
00;08;56;26 – 00;08;57;16
Melissa Poepping
Just this.
00;08;57;16 – 00;08;59;17
Melissa Poepping
This sanctuary here.
00;08;59;19 – 00;09;01;16
Lauren Brollier Newton
But what I did was I.
00;09;01;16 – 00;09;09;11
Melissa Poepping
Took pieces of what I love, what do I love about Paris and what do I love about architecture, and what do I love about that? That, you know, the serenity.
00;09;09;14 – 00;09;12;22
Melissa Poepping
And it’s the gardens and it’s the.
00;09;12;24 – 00;09;15;29
Melissa Poepping
It’s the feeling and the vibe. So I brought that to me.
00;09;16;05 – 00;09;16;25
Lauren Brollier Newton
Yes.
00;09;16;28 – 00;09;18;27
Melissa Poepping
When I step in my home.
00;09;19;00 – 00;09;20;17
Melissa Poepping
At the end of the day.
00;09;20;19 – 00;09;23;10
Melissa Poepping
I feel like I’ve stepped into an entirely different.
00;09;23;10 – 00;09;27;05
Melissa Poepping
World, an entirely different world. I have 60s.
00;09;27;08 – 00;09;30;10
Melissa Poepping
Music playing in the and, you know, and the solos.
00;09;30;10 – 00;09;39;11
Melissa Poepping
And I’m just in my element. I’m literally in my own little world and I, I can’t, you know, maybe someday I’ll have.
00;09;39;14 – 00;09;41;06
Melissa Poepping
An Airbnb like.
00;09;41;08 – 00;09;41;27
Melissa Poepping
It wouldn’t.
00;09;41;27 – 00;09;43;06
Melissa Poepping
Be in Paris.
00;09;43;09 – 00;09;45;02
Melissa Poepping
But it would be.
00;09;45;04 – 00;09;46;22
Melissa Poepping
Like a champagne vineyard.
00;09;46;25 – 00;09;51;07
Lauren Brollier Newton
Oh, yeah. Totally. Totally. I love this because,
00;09;51;10 – 00;10;10;22
Lauren Brollier Newton
When I think about some of the things we’ve talked about on this podcast before, one of the quotes I always share with the audience, I was getting, divorced in my first marriage, and I had this, strange feeling that I couldn’t believe that there were people in the world, my former husband and his family. Like, I just couldn’t believe there were people in the world that I knew didn’t like me.
00;10;10;24 – 00;10;41;16
Lauren Brollier Newton
And I was such a people pleaser back then that I was like, I just feel so uncomfortable knowing that there are certain people that didn’t like me. And I remember scrolling the Instagram back in those days, and I saw a quote, and it stuck with me ever since. And I’ve sort of lived by it. And it’s what you’re describing here is if everybody likes you, you stand for nothing, and you’ve built such a platform, Melissa, where you’re really standing for something and you’re standing for who you are and other women to be who they are, that, you know, the sometimes the haters are the loudest, but the truth is you have.
00;10;41;16 – 00;10;47;07
Lauren Brollier Newton
So I mean, I know you know this, but I’m saying it more for the audience. Like, you have thousands of fans, like you didn’t know I was your fan before I reached.
00;10;47;07 – 00;10;48;08
Lauren Brollier Newton
Out to you to this podcast and.
00;10;48;08 – 00;10;52;03
Lauren Brollier Newton
I’ve literally followed you. I’m like, House page House Wayne.
00;10;52;06 – 00;10;54;04
Lauren Brollier Newton
I followed you for so many years.
00;10;54;07 – 00;11;19;11
Lauren Brollier Newton
So, I want to talk about. So you built a team in a multi-level marketing company, and you have built a giant team. And I know along the way that there was a lot of coaching of your team and a lot of how much do I support and how much do I not support. And I know that sometimes our coaches, whether they’re certified here at the Institute or they’re listening to the podcast because they’re building their coaching business, they navigate how much do they hold for their clients?
00;11;19;19 – 00;11;28;26
Lauren Brollier Newton
How much is the client’s responsibility? And I think it’s super similar for building a team. So what tips do you have on, how much how much dragging along do you do and how do you.
00;11;28;26 – 00;11;30;03
Lauren Brollier Newton
Know who’s not?
00;11;30;04 – 00;11;32;19
Lauren Brollier Newton
Tell us about coaching such a giant team?
00;11;32;22 – 00;11;35;20
Melissa Poepping
Well, here’s the deal. Like what? How I was doing it in.
00;11;35;20 – 00;11;43;12
Melissa Poepping
The beginning was not sustainable. And I, I do wish that I would have learned that a lot sooner. But number one, we all only know what we know. And the.
00;11;43;12 – 00;11;44;13
Melissa Poepping
Only way.
00;11;44;13 – 00;12;04;29
Melissa Poepping
To grow and the only way to learn is through valuable lesson. So even when I’m losing, I’m winning because I am learning so many profound lessons from that particular situation, and it just forces me to show up bigger. It it forces me to show up stronger. It forces me to show up greater. And that’s how you take an extra life, right?
00;12;05;02 – 00;12;07;22
Melissa Poepping
You have to stretch yourself and you have to grow.
00;12;07;25 – 00;12;09;22
Melissa Poepping
So it’s not that I’m.
00;12;09;24 – 00;12;19;16
Melissa Poepping
It’s not that I would ever say, and this is important for me to say, I would never say I wish I would have done it different or, you know, it’s wrong for me to just say before, like, I wish I would have known.
00;12;19;19 – 00;12;20;01
Melissa Poepping
But what would.
00;12;20;01 – 00;12;20;26
Melissa Poepping
I have done with it?
00;12;20;26 – 00;12;23;02
Melissa Poepping
Because we we can only do.
00;12;23;02 – 00;12;39;28
Melissa Poepping
What we’re prepared to do with the knowledge that’s in front of us anyway. So in the beginning, what I did was, first of all, it’s so interesting because when I first started building my business, I mean, in 2010, the FTC did not require things like income disclosure statements.
00;12;40;00 – 00;12;41;03
Melissa Poepping
So it was.
00;12;41;03 – 00;12;41;13
Melissa Poepping
Not.
00;12;41;13 – 00;12;43;06
Melissa Poepping
Known who what.
00;12;43;06 – 00;12;44;02
Melissa Poepping
The average.
00;12;44;02 – 00;12;45;07
Lauren Brollier Newton
Earner, how.
00;12;45;07 – 00;12;49;26
Melissa Poepping
Long did it take them to get there? And to talk about how much you’re earning?
00;12;49;26 – 00;12;51;24
Melissa Poepping
Was really it was it’s quite gauche.
00;12;51;24 – 00;13;03;27
Melissa Poepping
So no one talked about it. No one walked around saying, oh, I’m making this month. This month, no one posted pictures of their son on social media because social media wasn’t a vignette.
00;13;04;00 – 00;13;07;01
Melissa Poepping
So it was it was kind of a beautiful thing, right?
00;13;07;03 – 00;13;16;19
Melissa Poepping
We didn’t have access to knowing what anyone else was making. We didn’t have access to really seen anybody else’s lifestyle.
00;13;16;19 – 00;13;17;02
Melissa Poepping
So we.
00;13;17;02 – 00;13;23;00
Melissa Poepping
Were only left to our own devices. And that is in the world of possible.
00;13;23;02 – 00;13;25;05
Melissa Poepping
Okay. So when you’re in the world.
00;13;25;05 – 00;13;37;08
Melissa Poepping
Of possibility, anything can happen. Anything is possible if you’re left there with your imagination. But as soon as you start putting data in front of us now we’re in the world of predictability where all we can.
00;13;37;08 – 00;13;38;18
Melissa Poepping
Do is predict well.
00;13;38;18 – 00;13;55;12
Melissa Poepping
Based on x, y, z. If I do x, y, z, I’ll get x, y, z right? It’s like all of a sudden everything becomes a math equation. Which is funny because for logistical minds, that really does help. It gives them a benchmark. If I do this, I can earn this. So this is my goal. That’s what I’m focusing on.
00;13;55;14 – 00;14;03;16
Melissa Poepping
But my growth was so rapid in the beginning. It’s so fast because all I could do was walk around in the world of possibility.
00;14;03;16 – 00;14;07;29
Melissa Poepping
Anything is possible because I don’t know what is the.
00;14;08;01 – 00;14;11;08
Melissa Poepping
What’s the median, what’s the average, what is.
00;14;11;10 – 00;14;11;21
Melissa Poepping
What is.
00;14;11;21 – 00;14;14;10
Melissa Poepping
Predictable in this. And so we just had.
00;14;14;10 – 00;14;14;28
Melissa Poepping
Fun.
00;14;15;03 – 00;14;17;29
Melissa Poepping
I connected, I created community, I.
00;14;17;29 – 00;14;21;15
Melissa Poepping
Was in my element. And there was, you know, none of this social.
00;14;21;15 – 00;14;34;24
Melissa Poepping
Media stuff where I could compare what I’m doing to what anybody else is doing. I just knew what I was doing was feeling right. It was feeling aligned, and I loved it and I just wanted more of it. And when in 2010.
00;14;34;26 – 00;14;35;10
Melissa Poepping
It really.
00;14;35;10 – 00;14;36;05
Melissa Poepping
Was almost.
00;14;36;05 – 00;14;37;08
Melissa Poepping
Like, you know, this.
00;14;37;08 – 00;14;41;05
Melissa Poepping
Was also the huge birth of social media happening at the same time.
00;14;41;07 – 00;14;44;13
Melissa Poepping
Yes. So now all of a sudden we could.
00;14;44;13 – 00;14;50;25
Melissa Poepping
See what other people were doing, and I could see people that were copying me.
00;14;50;27 – 00;14;51;22
Melissa Poepping
And then I could.
00;14;51;22 – 00;14;54;12
Melissa Poepping
See people that were doing it better.
00;14;54;14 – 00;14;57;16
Melissa Poepping
So now I had this fear of losing.
00;14;57;16 – 00;14;58;27
Melissa Poepping
It all at the same.
00;14;58;27 – 00;15;00;21
Melissa Poepping
Time. Being in the.
00;15;00;21 – 00;15;01;06
Melissa Poepping
Field.
00;15;01;06 – 00;15;02;19
Melissa Poepping
Of nothing.
00;15;02;19 – 00;15;04;10
Melissa Poepping
But competition.
00;15;04;13 – 00;15;09;28
Melissa Poepping
And so my growth came to a staggering plateau. I did not know. Yeah.
00;15;09;28 – 00;15;27;18
Melissa Poepping
And it was really shocking. And I and I just blamed myself because I’m like, well, based on all the data, if I do this and this and this and I should be here already. So I started thinking there’s something wrong with me. And then that tension, if you don’t really know what’s going on, you start taking it out on things that have nothing to do with it.
00;15;27;20 – 00;15;38;24
Melissa Poepping
And so tension grew with my team, tension grew with my leaders. And then as soon as I started figuring it out and really investing into personal mastery courses and really starting.
00;15;38;24 – 00;15;39;07
Melissa Poepping
To.
00;15;39;13 – 00;15;44;22
Melissa Poepping
It was around that time that I started looking at.
00;15;44;25 – 00;15;46;24
Melissa Poepping
Because I was still climbing my.
00;15;46;24 – 00;15;49;03
Melissa Poepping
Way out of being broke.
00;15;49;05 – 00;15;50;12
Lauren Brollier Newton
00;15;50;15 – 00;16;10;12
Melissa Poepping
Shortly after. So 2010 was $7.40 in my in my checking account. You know, starting my business all of a sudden know, I made $500 and I made $1,000, and I made $2,000. Like, it all came so quick. I was just starting to climb my way out of, like.
00;16;10;15 – 00;16;11;12
Melissa Poepping
Okay, because.
00;16;11;14 – 00;16;13;00
Melissa Poepping
Here’s the deal. I never.
00;16;13;00 – 00;16;13;16
Melissa Poepping
Told.
00;16;13;18 – 00;16;17;01
Melissa Poepping
My husband we only had $7.40.
00;16;17;01 – 00;16;17;26
Melissa Poepping
Left and then.
00;16;17;28 – 00;16;31;07
Melissa Poepping
Let me back up for a second. I was in charge of the finances and I was too scared to tell him, and I knew I could fix it. I’ve always figured it out, so I’m like, if I have three months.
00;16;31;09 – 00;16;33;21
Melissa Poepping
I can fix, and then I would.
00;16;33;21 – 00;16;34;19
Melissa Poepping
Never have had to have.
00;16;34;19 – 00;16;38;18
Melissa Poepping
Told him. It was only like, I think.
00;16;38;18 – 00;16;49;00
Melissa Poepping
7 or 8 years later. No, it was five years later, I, we were in Australia and I was speaking at a convention there.
00;16;49;03 – 00;17;00;02
Melissa Poepping
And when we did the back of the room, so there’s 2000 people between us, right? So he and his wife up on stage, just an enemy. He’s just like.
00;17;00;02 – 00;17;02;16
Melissa Poepping
Proud husband moment. Right.
00;17;02;18 – 00;17;27;09
Melissa Poepping
And I’m just, you know, spilling it all on the table and in complete vulnerability. And I’m like, it was only four years ago. I had $7.40 in our checking account. No, it year. And I look across the audience and I see his face. I mean, it was like instant mortified. All I knew was he’s got to get across other people to get to me, so I’m good.
00;17;27;10 – 00;17;35;23
Melissa Poepping
I afterwards I get off stage, he was waiting in the corner. He’s like, were you serious? I’m like, oh yeah, but it’s.
00;17;35;23 – 00;17;39;04
Melissa Poepping
Okay because I fixed it.
00;17;39;06 – 00;17;44;04
Melissa Poepping
All under control, Dave. It’s funny. And so we we laugh about that every.
00;17;44;04 – 00;17;44;25
Melissa Poepping
Once in a while.
00;17;45;02 – 00;17;48;28
Melissa Poepping
But when I hit that when I started hitting those.
00;17;48;28 – 00;17;52;12
Melissa Poepping
Success markers and started actually achieving success.
00;17;52;14 – 00;17;54;15
Lauren Brollier Newton
It felt so good because I was just.
00;17;54;15 – 00;18;00;16
Melissa Poepping
Climbing out of the water, you know, getting my head above water in the. My dad died.
00;18;00;18 – 00;18;01;00
Lauren Brollier Newton
00;18;01;03 – 00;18;18;21
Melissa Poepping
My, my dad’s only child, so I was left with all the financial responsibility, and he didn’t have a will in place because I was his only child. He thought it was a no brainer. My parents have been divorced for 30 years, and the life insurance policy was still under my mom’s name.
00;18;18;23 – 00;18;20;17
Melissa Poepping
She took it.
00;18;20;20 – 00;18;42;11
Melissa Poepping
So I fell back into this space of having to fix his house to be able to get it in a sellable position. All of the financial responsibilities from the from the service, from the funeral, from everything that had to happen. I mean, it was just like I just got ahead and then it pulled me all back. So here I am in this zone of a plateau.
00;18;42;11 – 00;19;03;21
Melissa Poepping
I have three little kids, my husband’s working, is in the agricultural business, and he’s working 60, 70 hours a week. I’m getting my my MLM business going and and off and running, and I would be at my dad’s house getting it fixed up to a sellable condition. And I’ve got my kids, you know, playing with whatever I could bring to occupy them.
00;19;03;21 – 00;19;15;28
Melissa Poepping
I’m on the on my cell phone making care calls while, you know, painting the ceiling of the house. I mean, talk about. Yeah, hustle and get it done and just and stay focused.
00;19;16;01 – 00;19;17;25
Melissa Poepping
So when I was.
00;19;17;25 – 00;19;37;02
Melissa Poepping
Stuck in that plateau and all of these things were happening, it started to really, you know, play a mind game on me of, you know, you get success. And then something like that happens and it’s all taken from you. And a family can do this to you. And the stress that it was putting on me was so insane.
00;19;37;02 – 00;19;39;03
Melissa Poepping
And I didn’t know enough about.
00;19;39;06 – 00;19;39;15
Melissa Poepping
Human.
00;19;39;15 – 00;19;43;25
Melissa Poepping
Behavior. I didn’t know enough about human design. I didn’t know enough about myself. Like.
00;19;43;28 – 00;19;44;17
Melissa Poepping
We just think.
00;19;44;17 – 00;19;46;19
Melissa Poepping
We can go out there and build businesses.
00;19;46;27 – 00;19;47;06
Melissa Poepping
And.
00;19;47;06 – 00;19;52;21
Melissa Poepping
Not be responsible enough to know about human behavior and human design.
00;19;52;24 – 00;19;54;08
Melissa Poepping
That we are responsive.
00;19;54;08 – 00;20;03;09
Melissa Poepping
All we have to continue this work on ourselves. We have to understand ourselves to get into that deeper level of connection with ourselves. So I still had.
00;20;03;09 – 00;20;05;05
Melissa Poepping
Minimal fun.
00;20;05;08 – 00;20;07;09
Melissa Poepping
To to to access.
00;20;07;12 – 00;20;10;26
Melissa Poepping
That, to do a coaching program and pay, you.
00;20;10;26 – 00;20;15;01
Melissa Poepping
Know, $500 or pay $1,000.
00;20;15;04 – 00;20;15;25
Melissa Poepping
There was there.
00;20;15;25 – 00;20;22;17
Melissa Poepping
Was not in the realm of possibility for me. And so I devoured free content.
00;20;22;19 – 00;20;23;09
Lauren Brollier Newton
00;20;23;12 – 00;20;39;22
Melissa Poepping
Devoured it, and I landed upon and I had read The Secret in 2004, instantly felt connected, fell in love with Bob Proctor. So then I started following everything he had on YouTube. If there was a YouTube video.
00;20;39;22 – 00;20;40;07
Melissa Poepping
I.
00;20;40;07 – 00;20;40;28
Melissa Poepping
Watched.
00;20;40;28 – 00;20;43;10
Melissa Poepping
It and it consumed hours.
00;20;43;10 – 00;20;57;18
Melissa Poepping
A day. Like if I was going to sit down and watch something on TV, why would I do that? If I can plug into these motivational YouTube videos and I’m learning something, that’s what I’m going to focus on. So an hour to two hours a day of just mindset and personal development and it was just.
00;20;57;18 – 00;20;58;06
Melissa Poepping
Playing.
00;20;58;06 – 00;21;05;26
Melissa Poepping
24 seven. So my daughter now is 19. So my kids are 19, 18 and 16.
00;21;05;26 – 00;21;07;00
Melissa Poepping
Basically.
00;21;07;03 – 00;21;11;06
Melissa Poepping
And I realize now that this is the noise that was in the background.
00;21;11;09 – 00;21;12;02
Melissa Poepping
Yes.
00;21;12;05 – 00;21;25;11
Melissa Poepping
Because of the way that they talk and the things that they say and what and what they do. They were listening to, you know, Bob Proctor and Mary Morrissey and they were listening to Abraham Hicks and they were listening to, Napoleon Hill and their own.
00;21;25;11 – 00;21;31;16
Melissa Poepping
Nightingale and, you know, Devil Daughter, that this is this stuff. Yeah, this this is the this is the only.
00;21;31;16 – 00;21;40;17
Melissa Poepping
Thing that they knew. So it wasn’t until 2015 that I actually first financially invested in my personal growth and development.
00;21;40;20 – 00;21;40;27
Melissa Poepping
And.
00;21;40;27 – 00;21;45;22
Melissa Poepping
Went all in on a $15,000 program. And I remember trying to explain this to my husband.
00;21;45;29 – 00;21;56;00
Melissa Poepping
He’s like, you’re spending how much? It’s like basic early. It’s like doing college backwards. Exactly. You put 18.
00;21;56;00 – 00;21;58;26
Melissa Poepping
Thousand dollars learning to be a diesel mechanic.
00;21;58;28 – 00;21;59;09
Melissa Poepping
And then.
00;21;59;09 – 00;22;02;21
Melissa Poepping
Got to do your career. Well, I’ve already been doing my career.
00;22;02;24 – 00;22;05;03
Melissa Poepping
And now I’m just going to go spend 15.
00;22;05;03 – 00;22;06;28
Melissa Poepping
Thousand dollars to learn to do it better.
00;22;07;00 – 00;22;08;24
Melissa Poepping
He’s like, well, you’re already doing it.
00;22;08;24 – 00;22;11;00
Melissa Poepping
I think you know how to do it. And I’m like, but I can’t.
00;22;11;00 – 00;22;12;03
Melissa Poepping
Get.
00;22;12;05 – 00;22;14;10
Melissa Poepping
Beat. I’m here and I.
00;22;14;12 – 00;22;18;17
Melissa Poepping
Don’t know how to get to that next piece. Something’s missing in.
00;22;18;17 – 00;22;26;03
Melissa Poepping
All of this. And that’s what I want to figure out. I mean, looking now at what I spent on my personal development, I think I could have bought a small village.
00;22;26;06 – 00;22;28;08
Melissa Poepping
But, you know, I wouldn’t do it.
00;22;28;08 – 00;22;31;06
Melissa Poepping
Any other way, I just wouldn’t.
00;22;31;09 – 00;22;32;23
Lauren Brollier Newton
One of the things that I have.
00;22;32;23 – 00;22;33;07
Lauren Brollier Newton
A.
00;22;33;10 – 00;22;59;26
Lauren Brollier Newton
Similar background story in, in just in terms of how I got started, when I started my coaching business, I was living in my parents basement and, and I would put a like a thing behind me so people could, couldn’t see when I was on video that I was literally sitting in a basement. And so, I think if anybody knew, including my parents of the past 30 years, all living in my parents basement, if they knew what I spent to invest in Bright Thinking Institute and Mary Morrissey to teach me what I didn’t know, they’d be like, what?
00;22;59;26 – 00;23;15;23
Lauren Brollier Newton
She’s crazy. Like we need to lock her up. But what I know about it is. And for everybody listening and for all our coaches, the reason your clients are investing this money is because if they knew how to get where they wanted to go on their own, they would have done it already. And Melissa had and I had.
00;23;15;23 – 00;23;31;13
Lauren Brollier Newton
And all of us who’ve built something had a knowing that I can’t keep doing it the same way. If I want to get to a different place because there’s something that I’m blind to, and it’s when you heard Mary Morrissey come on the podcast, she said, you’re not making $50,000 a year because you love it. You’re making it because you don’t have an awareness of how to make more.
00;23;31;15 – 00;23;47;19
Lauren Brollier Newton
And that’s a straight out of Bob Proctor’s playbook right there. And so this desire for more awareness of how to generate is someone who can think from an investing mindset, like Melissa speaking to hear it’ll repay you every day for the rest of your life in ways that no investment will pay you.
00;23;47;24 – 00;23;58;13
Melissa Poepping
People get into this thinking it’s the solution to where they’re stuck in their business, and that’s not the problem. It’s not your business. It’s not, and it’s not even you. There’s no I always about what is wrong with me?
00;23;58;15 – 00;24;01;05
Melissa Poepping
There’s nothing wrong with we were all born.
00;24;01;05 – 00;24;22;13
Melissa Poepping
Worthy and capable and nothing changed. But it’s really learning how to untangle certain things. And so, like in the beginning with my leaders, I, you know, I started to get really scared once I saw the numbers start to go down and I would try to step in and fix things because I still had such a poverty mindset and a lack mindset.
00;24;22;13 – 00;24;30;21
Melissa Poepping
And there were so many paradigms around, you know, I know that my biggest trauma is abandonment. And so anytime money was leaving.
00;24;30;24 – 00;24;32;18
Melissa Poepping
Abandoning me.
00;24;32;20 – 00;24;34;05
Melissa Poepping
I freaked out.
00;24;34;07 – 00;24;34;10
Melissa Poepping
Or.
00;24;34;12 – 00;24;56;12
Melissa Poepping
Without knowing that about me. I didn’t know how to. I didn’t know how to do anything about that. And how to, you know, just to be able to untangle that has opened up a whole new world for me, because I can look at money so differently and it doesn’t control me in the manner anymore. But we have this tendency to revert back to a very masculine energy way of dealing with things, and that’s a fix it energy, and not that there’s anything wrong with it.
00;24;56;12 – 00;25;12;10
Melissa Poepping
We need that logistical fix that energy. Any time you’re going to build a business, you need the masculine energy. What is my business going to look like? What is the structure? How do I build the foundation? But then you have to be able to step into the feminine energetics of it. And that is how do I connect to source?
00;25;12;10 – 00;25;29;12
Melissa Poepping
How do I let how do I grow? How do I expand, how do I trust the process? And that’s how you tap into magic money. So if we’re just going to stay in the masculine energy of it, we’re just in predictable money. It’s provider money, right? 9 to 5 or even have a coaching program. I charge this much.
00;25;29;12 – 00;25;39;00
Melissa Poepping
If I want to make this much. I have to have this many clients. I’m so far beyond that world and into somewhere else. I mean, if I can sit at my dining room table.
00;25;39;02 – 00;25;39;28
Melissa Poepping
In a town of.
00;25;40;03 – 00;25;42;23
Melissa Poepping
73 people and.
00;25;42;25 – 00;25;43;05
Melissa Poepping
Launch.
00;25;43;05 – 00;26;12;20
Melissa Poepping
A cosmetics line that I can later sell for a multimillion dollar package deal, I mean, that magic money, it was not accepted. It came out of nowhere. So I’d say right, like wasn’t counting on it. It was not predictable. There was no way to predict that math. And and that’s what has unfolded. So when we when we start to get scared that things are moving, when we start to get scared that it’s going backwards, we instantly tap back into our masculine energy.
00;26;12;20 – 00;26;25;00
Melissa Poepping
What can I do to fix this? And the and that usually looks like an an MLM. Let me step in and teach your team. Let me send the emails. Let me create the content immediately. Here’s my playbook. Here’s the strategy.
00;26;25;00 – 00;26;34;05
Melissa Poepping
You can you just follow this and not do anything else like it’s hard. Yeah. Do this. What else?
00;26;34;08 – 00;26;35;24
Melissa Poepping
And then we start to get stressed out.
00;26;35;24 – 00;26;36;06
Lauren Brollier Newton
And then there.
00;26;36;12 – 00;26;48;10
Melissa Poepping
Should be competition. And there’s supposed to be comparison and it just got ugly. So what I was doing was shoulder to knee leadership. If someone said they wanted to build a business, I’d be like.
00;26;48;13 – 00;26;50;16
Melissa Poepping
Let’s do it. And then I.
00;26;50;16 – 00;26;55;06
Melissa Poepping
Needed to do the work. I needed to do the strategies I needed to take care of.
00;26;55;12 – 00;26;55;29
Melissa Poepping
And how it.
00;26;55;29 – 00;27;07;26
Melissa Poepping
Looks like now, when someone says to me, I want to build a business, I’m like, I’m so excited for you. Can you tell me more of what that looks like? Because I need to decide. Are we going to be shoulder to knee.
00;27;07;28 – 00;27;08;12
Melissa Poepping
Or are we.
00;27;08;12 – 00;27;10;09
Melissa Poepping
Going to be shoulder to shoulder?
00;27;10;11 – 00;27;10;24
Melissa Poepping
Because if.
00;27;10;24 – 00;27;22;08
Melissa Poepping
This is somebody that’s going to be shoulder to knee and they’re going to need quite a bit from me, then they’re not ready to step into the same arena of leadership that I think.
00;27;22;08 – 00;27;23;03
Melissa Poepping
They can.
00;27;23;07 – 00;27;23;29
Melissa Poepping
Step right, because we.
00;27;23;29 – 00;27;26;18
Melissa Poepping
Cannot fit more.
00;27;26;20 – 00;27;31;04
Melissa Poepping
Than anyone else. One set, because we don’t truly know what they’re willing to do.
00;27;31;05 – 00;27;34;12
Melissa Poepping
Most people are I’m all in, you know.
00;27;34;14 – 00;27;45;26
Melissa Poepping
Until 2:00 this afternoon and then, you know, probably often not on the weekends. And as long as it’s fun, it has to be fun.
00;27;45;28 – 00;27;48;14
Melissa Poepping
As soon as it gets stressful, I’m out.
00;27;48;17 – 00;28;05;26
Melissa Poepping
Or, you know, if I if I’m not gonna be able spend time with the kids, it’s going to affect that. I’m definitely out. You know, and I still have to, you know, I don’t want to get so busy that I can’t do the things at home that I need to do. And then, you know, if my husband starts to get annoyed, of course, then I’m really all out.
00;28;05;26 – 00;28;08;06
Melissa Poepping
I’m like, okay, you’re not all in.
00;28;08;08 – 00;28;09;13
Melissa Poepping
Yeah, all in.
00;28;09;13 – 00;28;28;08
Melissa Poepping
Is a complete sentence. So then I know that this is someone that I’m really going to have to lead their team. I’m going to have to babysit. It’s going to be in, out, in, out, in, out. And so many things can change during the out season. So I just bless them where they’re at. And I just say we have to really identify what you’re willing to do.
00;28;28;12 – 00;28;48;15
Melissa Poepping
And once you’re comfortable with them, then you let me know the resources you need versus if someone says to me, I’m all in, here’s how I want to see it. Here’s how I do see it, here’s what I here’s what I want to learn. Then I know we’re shoulder to shoulder and we can create together, and we can collaborate together and we can win together like this person is all in.
00;28;48;15 – 00;29;06;07
Melissa Poepping
So it’s just very it’s a very different if you’re shoulder to knee or shoulder to shoulder. And so that’s now how I go forward in, in my business. If you want to step into this level of leadership with me and, and lead a team with me and learn from me, it has to be shoulder to shoulder. Yeah, anything less than that.
00;29;06;07 – 00;29;08;20
Melissa Poepping
Otherwise I can’t run multiple businesses.
00;29;08;22 – 00;29;17;29
Lauren Brollier Newton
Talk about. I would love to hear you, talk a little bit about your coaching platform and how you got into the coaching space beyond your team.
00;29;18;02 – 00;29;22;21
Melissa Poepping
There were so many people that would reach out. First of all, I think it just looks really.
00;29;22;21 – 00;29;39;04
Melissa Poepping
Different in the industry in what I was doing and how I was thinking and how I was showing up, because a lot of other leaders weren’t doing the personal development programs, and if they were, they weren’t sharing what they were learning with anyone else on their team.
00;29;39;06 – 00;29;40;05
Lauren Brollier Newton
00;29;40;07 – 00;29;42;17
Melissa Poepping
Me on the other hand, you can’t shut me up.
00;29;42;20 – 00;29;51;29
Melissa Poepping
Yeah. The moment I learn something new I want to tell everybody about it. And so I love how.
00;29;52;01 – 00;30;04;07
Melissa Poepping
As well as models says we are not a misers chest. We’re not meant to get this information and lock it up. So we need to honor the law of circulation. So when I learn something that’s not that I.
00;30;04;07 – 00;30;09;19
Melissa Poepping
Don’t own that. I don’t own that knowledge. And so if.
00;30;09;19 – 00;30;21;22
Melissa Poepping
I wasn’t sharing that with everybody, now I have a scarcity mindset. And if I got outside of my team, someone else would be doing better than me, or someone else would look better than me, or they be leading a team more effectively.
00;30;21;24 – 00;30;23;01
Melissa Poepping
Though I will say this.
00;30;23;01 – 00;30;28;16
Melissa Poepping
Just to kind of cover myself. Are there leaders that are winning to bigger levels than I am?
00;30;28;22 – 00;30;29;29
Melissa Poepping
Absolutely.
00;30;29;29 – 00;30;37;21
Melissa Poepping
There are. And are there leaders that have gotten there because they only share the content within their own team? Absolutely there is.
00;30;37;23 – 00;30;41;21
Melissa Poepping
But is it sustainable? Absolutely it’s not.
00;30;41;23 – 00;31;05;21
Melissa Poepping
And so for me, it’s just always been, you know, if I’m going to learn something, I want to share it with everyone. And so being able to create a coaching platform just made sense because also it’s not meant to be free. Like if I’m investing, you know, hundreds of thousands of dollars into my growth, my personal mastery, my development, why wouldn’t I charge?
00;31;05;21 – 00;31;07;26
Melissa Poepping
So I don’t do one on.
00;31;07;26 – 00;31;21;08
Melissa Poepping
One coaching anymore, and I don’t know if I’ll ever enter back into that space unless it’s a real high end and there’s some really serious interview, you know, application process that has to go through. So I do group format coaching.
00;31;21;15 – 00;31;21;23
Melissa Poepping
But.
00;31;21;23 – 00;31;39;27
Melissa Poepping
I love being able to share, you know, here’s my masterclass on I have one coming up this weekend. It’s called the Wellness Ecology. And it’s how to create a sustainable course supplement routine. And I teach people from a way of I don’t care if you’re still smoking or drinking alcohol or eating food that’s bad for you, I do.
00;31;39;27 – 00;31;42;25
Melissa Poepping
You, do you. I love that you’re.
00;31;42;27 – 00;31;43;27
Melissa Poepping
Interested.
00;31;44;04 – 00;31;44;14
Melissa Poepping
In.
00;31;44;14 – 00;31;49;28
Melissa Poepping
Doing something better in your life, and I’m not going to tell you you have to change it.
00;31;50;00 – 00;31;50;20
Melissa Poepping
But I am.
00;31;50;20 – 00;32;11;00
Melissa Poepping
Going to help you understand that it’s not fair for you to think you’re going to be able to turn your health around in three months when you’re engaging in that. So what I also will do also will do is show you the timeline of what would be probably more realistic for you based on your lifestyle. And if you want to change, well, then you can affect the timeline, but that’s.
00;32;11;00 – 00;32;16;01
Melissa Poepping
All you do, you know? So I teach in such a different way.
00;32;16;04 – 00;32;28;26
Melissa Poepping
So courses on, you know, wellness courses on beauty, and courses on personal mastery. So my platform just becomes a really accessible place for people to step into that world.
00;32;28;28 – 00;32;47;17
Lauren Brollier Newton
I would love to hear. So when we get into so we have coaches, that have been certified here at Brave Thinking Institute that are just getting started and haven’t earned their first dollar yet. But we have coaches that listen to this podcast. I know because they text me feedback. Love this episode. Can you ask this next time who have already generated seven figures and on the on the seven figure end of the coaches?
00;32;47;17 – 00;33;08;06
Lauren Brollier Newton
One of the things that they often struggle with is if I have this core group of clients. So maybe similar to an MLM, how you might have a team and you have your leaders. What of my material in terms of the coaching world, am I giving because they’re either already part of my client base? And where am I actually saying, even though you’re on my team, this is a high level coaching program, I’m still charging for that.
00;33;08;08 – 00;33;10;00
Lauren Brollier Newton
Where do you fall in that spectrum?
00;33;10;02 – 00;33;15;09
Melissa Poepping
So I don’t like for me, for me, I don’t like to double dip. And this is what I mean by that.
00;33;15;09 – 00;33;17;29
Melissa Poepping
If somebody is in my MLM structure.
00;33;18;01 – 00;33;21;29
Melissa Poepping
I’m already financially benefiting off of them purchasing products.
00;33;22;05 – 00;33;23;13
Melissa Poepping
Right.
00;33;23;15 – 00;33;43;01
Melissa Poepping
And I know that if they step into a personal mastery class and they’re getting a stronger mindset, they’re going to be stronger leaders. So I’m also going to financially benefit from that. So I don’t like to double dip. But they also have to have some skin in the game. So they take it serious okay. And and and I’m not going to do it for nothing.
00;33;43;05 – 00;33;53;00
Melissa Poepping
That’s the end of the day. I’ve invested in this. I can’t go backwards in it. So if they’re not in my team then there is a different entry fee for them to participate.
00;33;53;02 – 00;33;55;15
Melissa Poepping
But if they are.
00;33;55;15 – 00;34;03;02
Melissa Poepping
In my team, they get a really nice discussion and it actually just becomes a perk. It’s an incentive for being in my organization.
00;34;03;05 – 00;34;03;20
Lauren Brollier Newton
I love that.
00;34;03;27 – 00;34;16;13
Melissa Poepping
These are some of the benefits you get. You get to participate in this program for, you know, a 75% reduction in cost or you get to attend this event for free or, you know, whatever it might be.
00;34;16;16 – 00;34;17;01
Lauren Brollier Newton
Yeah.
00;34;17;04 – 00;34;32;05
Lauren Brollier Newton
We I mean, even at the levels of Brave Thinking Institute where we’ve trained, I think we’ve trained and certified over 5000 coaches. Now, as the director of the division I struggle with, do we give this upgrade to everybody, even though they haven’t been in the Institute for years, but they’re a certified coach with us. Like we’re always thinking about that.
00;34;32;05 – 00;34;44;29
Lauren Brollier Newton
Like really like cursing that out and being like what feels like a win win win for all. Knowing that, and we know that there’s no skin in the game. There’s no incentive to do it. It’s just something sitting in your inbox somewhere and it’s not helping you anyway.
00;34;45;02 – 00;34;46;08
Melissa Poepping
There’s always there’s.
00;34;46;08 – 00;34;48;09
Melissa Poepping
Always employee perks, right?
00;34;48;12 – 00;34;48;29
Melissa Poepping
Like if you.
00;34;48;29 – 00;34;50;01
Melissa Poepping
Work at Chanel you.
00;34;50;01 – 00;34;55;07
Melissa Poepping
Get a discount. Yeah, I love that. If you work. Yeah, if you work,
00;34;55;09 – 00;34;58;00
Melissa Poepping
You know, if you work, if you’re a waitress in the restaurant, you just take on.
00;34;58;01 – 00;35;00;17
Melissa Poepping
Food is always the employee.
00;35;00;17 – 00;35;02;10
Melissa Poepping
Perk, the employee, you know.
00;35;02;10 – 00;35;03;20
Melissa Poepping
And the employees have.
00;35;03;20 – 00;35;05;04
Melissa Poepping
To be incentivized.
00;35;05;06 – 00;35;06;14
Melissa Poepping
And so I.
00;35;06;14 – 00;35;09;06
Melissa Poepping
In an MLM, why? You know, the grind. It’s not our.
00;35;09;13 – 00;35;11;04
Melissa Poepping
Quote unquote, employee.
00;35;11;06 – 00;35;13;01
Melissa Poepping
But it’s still is a part of the team.
00;35;13;01 – 00;35;15;00
Melissa Poepping
And so what employee.
00;35;15;00 – 00;35;26;02
Melissa Poepping
Discount they get. What team member discount could they get. And it’s just another one of those things that just makes them feel closer connected into the family. But their growth I gain from them. I benefit from that.
00;35;26;02 – 00;35;43;15
Lauren Brollier Newton
I think when you talked about the feminine energy and really going to source and getting out of, we call it. When you talked about the fix it, we call it figure It out mode here at the Institute where that feeling that you get inside when your nervous systems all activate and you think you have to figure everything out first, taking a breath, going to source, really connecting with that and saying, what is that leading me to?
00;35;43;15 – 00;35;51;19
Lauren Brollier Newton
What is that voice guiding me to? So I’d love to hear a little bit about here at the Institute. You know, this is Mary Morris’s Brave Thinking Institute, and she and Bob Proctor.
00;35;51;19 – 00;35;52;07
Lauren Brollier Newton
Were.
00;35;52;14 – 00;36;08;21
Lauren Brollier Newton
The best of friends for many, many years. And, I’d love to hear a little bit about I know you were in some of the highest level coaching programs at Bob, so I’d love for you to just share with the audience. You’re also all fans of Bob’s. What some of your favorite memories with Bob are? What are some of the most important things he taught you that really?
00;36;08;23 – 00;36;14;26
Lauren Brollier Newton
You can notice something that he taught you where you’re like, that changed my life forever. That changed my business forever.
00;36;14;29 – 00;36;16;17
Melissa Poepping
What are the things? Well, first of all.
00;36;16;17 – 00;36;35;22
Melissa Poepping
I had when I celebrated a birthday during one of the programs, and I think it was at The Matrix, and they brought in this huge cake for me and Bob saying Happy Birthday to me. It was it was so much fun. I was at the 3% and I had been I used to host an annual event. It was quite large.
00;36;35;22 – 00;37;04;11
Melissa Poepping
It was 1000 people that when there were higher ticket prices, it was like $700 to be able to go. And it was usually like a three day event. And I had always visualized like having a huge keynote speaker like Bob would be a huge keynote speaker. And so I was at the 3% and I was up in the hot seat and, some something happened in the conversation where it became the perfect segway to ask him.
00;37;04;13 – 00;37;23;03
Melissa Poepping
And I didn’t want to do it in a way that was obnoxious or that put him on the spot. So I wanted to be really classy about how I did it. And I again, I can’t remember it’s on video and I should go back and look at it because it would be a beautiful walk down memory lane, but I can’t remember how it segue then.
00;37;23;03 – 00;37;38;00
Melissa Poepping
But I had said something about, I think it was talking about like the highest visions you hold or like something like that. And I said, well, there’s this event that I do every year, and, you know, it’s my next major thing coming up. And, you know, I told them a little bit about the event and he goes, that sounds really interesting.
00;37;38;00 – 00;37;43;28
Melissa Poepping
And I’m like, well, if you’re ever in the area while I’m doing an event, like, I would love to have you stop in and like, see.
00;37;43;28 – 00;37;47;14
Melissa Poepping
What you think of it, or, you know.
00;37;47;16 – 00;37;49;29
Melissa Poepping
Grab the microphone and get on stage and say a.
00;37;49;29 – 00;37;55;16
Melissa Poepping
Few words. If you’d ever so feel inclined.
00;37;55;16 – 00;38;01;29
Melissa Poepping
If you just happen to, you know, be in Saint Cloud, Minnesota on April 13th.
00;38;02;01 – 00;38;14;26
Melissa Poepping
You know, they took gave in. And he goes, are you inviting me to speak at your event? And I’m like, I don’t know, maybe I only have.
00;38;14;26 – 00;38;16;08
Melissa Poepping
A lanyard with your name on.
00;38;16;08 – 00;38;30;05
Melissa Poepping
It. I put it out there. I can’t take it back. I have like just what I do. And so he said, Gina, check my schedule. Am I available that day?
00;38;30;05 – 00;38;40;08
Melissa Poepping
And Gina said, Bob, you are available that day. And he goes, will mark me as not available because I will be. And you look at me because what time is it? And I said, Saint Cloud, Minnesota because I will be in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
00;38;40;09 – 00;38;45;20
Melissa Poepping
Like. Oh no, tell anybody about it.
00;38;45;20 – 00;39;07;27
Melissa Poepping
And he was just the surprise speaker. And so everyone bought their ticket thinking they were just going to be listening to me, which was amazing because I sold a thousand tickets at $700 apiece. So I mean, just to know that I could do that. And people were coming to hear my wisdom, but knowing all along that I had this gift for them getting Bob there, it was a gift.
00;39;08;01 – 00;39;24;02
Melissa Poepping
And he didn’t charge me. He I mean, he put that jet up in the air and down again and landed at the Saint Cloud, Minnesota airport, which is in a cornfield. And apparently when he got off the plane, it was a quite a shock to him.
00;39;24;02 – 00;39;31;06
Melissa Poepping
And it was where I am. Am I going to be speaking.
00;39;31;06 – 00;39;38;07
Melissa Poepping
At a barn like he was not impressed? And then when he got to the convention center and saw.
00;39;38;11 – 00;39;38;23
Melissa Poepping
How.
00;39;38;23 – 00;39;43;22
Melissa Poepping
I had transformed it in there, there was a moment when he walked in the door and he’s like.
00;39;43;24 – 00;39;46;02
Melissa Poepping
Like you do with no words. He’s like.
00;39;46;04 – 00;39;47;12
Melissa Poepping
This is like walking into.
00;39;47;12 – 00;39;51;07
Melissa Poepping
A complete different world. He’s. And it just was.
00;39;51;10 – 00;39;54;11
Melissa Poepping
He talked on stage for five.
00;39;54;11 – 00;39;56;10
Melissa Poepping
Hours and the.
00;39;56;10 – 00;40;17;11
Melissa Poepping
Mic, the, the guy who coordinates, the whole event. Right. That runs the whole show flow. And I mean, he’s done huge, you know, mega concerts at the, you know, us being stadium and everything else. And there’s a very tight schedule. And I was sitting, at the soundcheck with him and he’s like, we’re going over our time.
00;40;17;11 – 00;40;30;08
Melissa Poepping
He is going over our time. So I’m going to put an alert on the prompter that he needs to wrap this up in three minutes. I reached across and grabbed his hand. I’m like, I will kill you dead.
00;40;30;10 – 00;40;57;04
Melissa Poepping
Bill. You dead. Where you sit for speaking. We do not interrupt. And he goes, I think people are going to want to even go over to Jimmy. John’s the freaking gas. No one’s getting up for this. Look at the people. I don’t care if you ended this, everyone would be so mad at you. I don’t even think I could get you out of this building.
00;40;57;04 – 00;41;12;07
Melissa Poepping
They’d be so mad. And, you know, I’m like, take your hands off the controls. Take notes. You should take notes. Really? What you have access to right now, you should just take notes like, yeah. Oh my God. Amen. Yourself from the logistics, buddy.
00;41;12;07 – 00;41;13;27
Melissa Poepping
And just be in the moment.
00;41;14;00 – 00;41;16;11
Lauren Brollier Newton
Oh my gosh, I love that.
00;41;16;11 – 00;41;30;15
Melissa Poepping
But it was so incredible. Like you know and I, I did the intro and I did the intro to that event on the, on the floor. I didn’t do it on the stage because Bob was the first one out, and he was going to be the first person on stage reserving that honor for him. And so, you know, we we.
00;41;30;15 – 00;41;33;08
Melissa Poepping
Snuck him in, which is so much fun to do.
00;41;33;08 – 00;41;35;13
Melissa Poepping
Just felt like, you know, little kids, like sneaking.
00;41;35;13 – 00;41;37;22
Melissa Poepping
Into the convention center. No one can see them.
00;41;37;22 – 00;41;39;11
Melissa Poepping
And finding this big secret.
00;41;39;13 – 00;41;40;00
Melissa Poepping
And, you know.
00;41;40;00 – 00;41;57;13
Melissa Poepping
Everyone came in and I, I did the intro from the floor and and I, you know, I remember telling everybody having this gorgeous weekend, planned for you. And my hope is that everything just lands so hard and that none of this ever leaves you. And it is a great honor to welcome to the stage Bob Proctor. And mean.
00;41;57;13 – 00;41;59;18
Melissa Poepping
People lost.
00;41;59;18 – 00;41;59;24
Melissa Poepping
It.
00;41;59;28 – 00;42;02;11
Lauren Brollier Newton
I bet they had no idea.
00;42;02;12 – 00;42;09;07
Melissa Poepping
Like there was this moment of shock. It was pure silence and everyone was looking around and then everyone just started screaming.
00;42;09;13 – 00;42;18;29
Melissa Poepping
It is, amazing, amazing. And the whole time he spoke, you could have heard a pin drop. I mean, everyone.
00;42;18;29 – 00;42;36;13
Melissa Poepping
Just hung on his last and every single word. And that’s my favorite Bob memory. And he always got my name wrong. He always called me Michelle. And it was so funny. I was at The Matrix, and that’s where this started. And he would he would talk about me from from stages, like, it’s like when Michelle.
00;42;36;15 – 00;42;37;14
Melissa Poepping
And the whole.
00;42;37;14 – 00;42;42;23
Melissa Poepping
Audience at this point, because I’m such a social butterfly. So everyone who attended.
00;42;42;26 – 00;42;44;05
Melissa Poepping
Has already met me.
00;42;44;07 – 00;42;50;04
Melissa Poepping
You know, all the couple hundred people there. And as if on cue, everyone in the audience at the same time.
00;42;50;06 – 00;43;06;11
Melissa Poepping
If Melissa on stage was watching the wrong. Time. And I said, it’s okay, Steve, keep going. It was such a.
00;43;06;11 – 00;43;09;05
Melissa Poepping
Playful soul and just such.
00;43;09;07 – 00;43;10;14
Melissa Poepping
I just.
00;43;10;17 – 00;43;13;20
Melissa Poepping
I miss him so much, but I bring him into so much of what I do every single.
00;43;13;20 – 00;43;15;09
Melissa Poepping
Day,
00;43;15;11 – 00;43;29;21
Melissa Poepping
And in what I teach and even in my programs. And I was talking about them a little bit ago on the welcome call to my, to my coaching program to kick off the new season. And, you know, I bring in the motivational videos from him and the clips from him and, and I’m always leading people into his path.
00;43;29;24 – 00;43;32;01
Melissa Poepping
And, you know, when he thought about.
00;43;32;01 – 00;43;32;29
Melissa Poepping
The laws.
00;43;33;01 – 00;43;33;18
Lauren Brollier Newton
Really.
00;43;33;18 – 00;43;51;22
Melissa Poepping
Going back and listening, he did it in such a masculine way. This is the law. This is how you apply it. These are the results you’re going to get. And I teach in such a feminine energetics and it’s leaning into this law. And what are the feeling thoughts around it and really connecting more with the the vibrational frequency of it.
00;43;51;25 – 00;44;01;10
Melissa Poepping
So I love I still feel like I’m coaching with him and teaching with him because he teaches that part. Then I come in and teach my part. And so he’s he’s a part of my everyday life.
00;44;01;13 – 00;44;22;07
Lauren Brollier Newton
I love that, I love that some of the Bob Mary stories very much remind me of this. The same thing that you’re talking about. And there’s so many times where Bob shifted Mary’s mindset. I mean, they were colleagues, but Mary will always say, like, Bob was my was one of my greatest coaches, and that he would always tell Mary because Mary’s roots, where she was a minister.
00;44;22;09 – 00;44;36;24
Lauren Brollier Newton
And so he would always say to Mary, Mary, you’re thinking like a damn minister again. And it was just like, I take so much of his, wisdom with me every day. And I know Mary does, too, in this institute. So thank you for your willingness to share.
00;44;36;26 – 00;44;38;12
Melissa Poepping
What one of the things that he used.
00;44;38;12 – 00;44;59;07
Melissa Poepping
To always tell me a lot. And Bob was very intuitive, so he knew instantly what people’s biggest paradigms were. But what I wish is that I wish he would have helped me understand more of what he was trying to tell me when he told me this, because I think it would have landed with me so much earlier. But maybe it was also his method that he just knew he had to plant the seed within you, and then you have to figure it out.
00;44;59;07 – 00;45;07;20
Melissa Poepping
I mean, like through Yoda, right? And he would always tell me, Melissa, you have to learn how to love yourself.
00;45;07;23 – 00;45;15;01
Melissa Poepping
And I told him, like, I think I do, I think I do. And Bob.
00;45;15;01 – 00;45;16;02
Melissa Poepping
Isn’t someone you argue.
00;45;16;02 – 00;45;20;09
Melissa Poepping
With the moment. Bob says, what is the first thing he.
00;45;20;09 – 00;45;26;28
Melissa Poepping
Said when he got in the hot seat and he read what? You know, the problem was, I wanted to work through. He goes, the problem isn’t your leaders. The problem is your problem is your attitude.
00;45;27;05 – 00;45;32;00
Melissa Poepping
And I wanted to go, okay, yeah.
00;45;32;03 – 00;45;43;24
Melissa Poepping
Tell me more about that. Because I had a great attitude. I’m happy. I’m positive. I’m a caring, giving, loving person. Like, what do you mean? My attitude has a problem? I had no idea.
00;45;43;27 – 00;45;44;29
Melissa Poepping
What it really was.
00;45;44;29 – 00;46;00;28
Melissa Poepping
Talking about is my perception of things. And if something doesn’t align, how my attitude can shift so quickly, or my attitude towards myself. And so I in August stepped into a complete different.
00;46;01;00 – 00;46;01;17
Melissa Poepping
Level.
00;46;01;17 – 00;46;16;20
Melissa Poepping
Of learning and a different style of learning. And one of the first things, I took a program called Magic on Legs, and it was just such a gorgeous program for a female to go through. And I learned how to love myself.
00;46;16;22 – 00;46;17;08
Melissa Poepping
And.
00;46;17;08 – 00;46;19;16
Melissa Poepping
It’s something that can never be taken.
00;46;19;16 – 00;46;29;10
Melissa Poepping
From me. It’s. And that it was it’s it’s it’s I wish there was a way to be like. Bob. I get it now. Like, I didn’t know.
00;46;29;12 – 00;46;42;08
Melissa Poepping
But to be at this place where I just so unapologetically, obsessively in love with myself and know that that’s not an arrogant thing. That’s that’s not an ego thing, that that’s.
00;46;42;08 – 00;46;43;29
Melissa Poepping
Not a bad thing.
00;46;43;29 – 00;46;47;28
Melissa Poepping
I mean, this has changed how I show up in my marriage. This has changed how I show.
00;46;47;28 – 00;46;48;17
Melissa Poepping
Up.
00;46;48;19 – 00;46;57;20
Melissa Poepping
For myself. And when you love something so fiercely and obsessively and unapologetically, you’ll do anything to protect it.
00;46;57;22 – 00;46;59;14
Melissa Poepping
And like, you know, if you.
00;46;59;14 – 00;47;20;07
Melissa Poepping
Fall so deeply in love with yourself, you will protect yourself at all costs. So you’re you’re different with your boundaries. You’re different with your standards. You’re different in how you show up. You’re different and what you allow. And in speaking up for what, what is you know what if something’s not right, that you speak up for it and say things like, why would you think.
00;47;20;07 – 00;47;26;02
Melissa Poepping
It’s okay to say that to me? Why would you think that. Why would you think that’s acceptable.
00;47;26;04 – 00;47;46;07
Melissa Poepping
And that is a sign of you love yourself. And if you think about what is something in this world that you love more than anything and people will say, I love God, I love my, my God more than anything. Well then if you’re in a situation and someone is speaking negatively about that, you will protect your God. If it’s your spouse, if it’s your kids and something happens to them, you will take a bullet for them.
00;47;46;07 – 00;47;52;10
Melissa Poepping
You will stand in front. I mean, that is a fierce love. Why can’t we love ourselves like that? And that.
00;47;52;13 – 00;47;52;19
Melissa Poepping
Comes.
00;47;52;19 – 00;47;59;16
Melissa Poepping
First because all other will fall into place. So it’s that that was the biggest. The most profound thing that Bob ever did for.
00;47;59;16 – 00;48;00;19
Melissa Poepping
Me was.
00;48;00;22 – 00;48;06;14
Melissa Poepping
To learn to love yourself. Because it’s always been in the recesses of my mind. What does that I do?
00;48;06;14 – 00;48;07;22
Melissa Poepping
What does that mean?
00;48;07;24 – 00;48;16;21
Melissa Poepping
And then stepping into the core is what I did last summer. I’ll never forget the moment it hit me. I just was reduced to a puddle of tears.
00;48;16;21 – 00;48;19;08
Melissa Poepping
It’s like I never loved myself.
00;48;19;08 – 00;48;27;20
Melissa Poepping
I mean, this is this is huge. This is profound. And I’m like, if Bob wouldn’t have first said that, that, would it have landed the same?
00;48;27;22 – 00;48;31;07
Melissa Poepping
Yes. So when when we I.
00;48;31;09 – 00;48;42;25
Melissa Poepping
I want to say this for anybody that either if you’re getting into coaching, even if you think you’re coachable, you’re not.
00;48;42;27 – 00;48;45;24
Melissa Poepping
Yes, yes. Even if you think you.
00;48;45;24 – 00;48;47;03
Melissa Poepping
Are, you’re not.
00;48;47;03 – 00;48;48;12
Melissa Poepping
So go in.
00;48;48;12 – 00;49;03;03
Melissa Poepping
With the mindset already that you are not coachable and you need to work on that because it will actually humble yourself and you’ll be more receptive to letting things land. So like even in that moment where Bob’s like, the problem is your attitude.
00;49;03;06 – 00;49;03;21
Melissa Poepping
I wanted to.
00;49;03;21 – 00;49;05;19
Melissa Poepping
Immediately say, no, it’s not.
00;49;05;21 – 00;49;06;29
Melissa Poepping
And as the words were.
00;49;06;29 – 00;49;20;23
Melissa Poepping
Coming out of my mouth and I, that part is on video and I have watched it many times, I lean forward to say no, I’m not, and immediately put the microphone down, relax my shoulders so that I could receive what he was saying.
00;49;20;25 – 00;49;22;06
Melissa Poepping
Arms were crossed because.
00;49;22;06 – 00;49;30;25
Melissa Poepping
Then like, you’re covering your solar plexus, you’re covering your information center. No, my body language is so fascinating in that moment, because I think back into the.
00;49;30;25 – 00;49;32;25
Melissa Poepping
Chair and was fully.
00;49;32;25 – 00;49;50;20
Melissa Poepping
In a receive sequence for whatever he was going to tell me next, and I wasn’t resisting it. And so even if you think you’re coachable, you’re not. And so really pay attention to the things that your mentor and your coach are saying to you because you have sought them out for a reason. Let them coach.
00;49;50;20 – 00;49;51;21
Melissa Poepping
You. You’re not.
00;49;51;22 – 00;50;15;18
Melissa Poepping
You know better than them. You do not know more than them. You are there to learn from them. So learn from them. And you know you’re not there to judge or critique their style or their method. You’re just there and trust that it aligned and and open yourself up to receiving what they’re there to give you. And for those of you that are coaching, people understand.
00;50;15;25 – 00;50;16;12
Melissa Poepping
That there’s.
00;50;16;12 – 00;50;29;25
Melissa Poepping
Might be some resistance with most people. And so just to be soft around that, and if someone is resistant to what they’re trying to, what you’re trying to teach them to just find a softer method and get out of that accept mode, that masculine.
00;50;29;25 – 00;50;30;27
Melissa Poepping
Energy and just.
00;50;30;27 – 00;50;36;02
Melissa Poepping
Let it all step into an energetic, feminine flow. And it’s just it’s beautiful.
00;50;36;05 – 00;51;03;00
Lauren Brollier Newton
I love that so much, Melissa. I’d love to hear one of the things that I think some of our certified coaches will sometimes struggle with is they hear so many different things in the marketing industry, especially with all these on line coaches and the clicks and the reels and all these things. And one of the things that I think they struggle with is I watch coaches either try to niche down so hard that now, like they’re talking to like two people on the planet, because some marketing person is like, you have to niche down so hard on the other end of the spectrum.
00;51;03;00 – 00;51;25;06
Lauren Brollier Newton
Yeah, I think about Young Living that or Essential Oil Company, or I think about our coaches who, when you’re a life coach or you have wellness products available and you know it can truly help everyone, it can be hard to speak very specifically. I never niche down super hard because that felt so constrictive. So I’d love to hear in the beginnings and now, like in the beginning when you’re like, I know these products can help everybody.
00;51;25;06 – 00;51;33;13
Lauren Brollier Newton
And even now when you know what you’ve got can help everybody, how do you still speak to a particular person in a way that actually brings people into your world?
00;51;33;16 – 00;51;34;19
Melissa Poepping
Well, I do think you have.
00;51;34;19 – 00;51;35;24
Melissa Poepping
To niche down a little bit.
00;51;35;24 – 00;51;36;19
Melissa Poepping
Because.
00;51;36;27 – 00;52;00;16
Melissa Poepping
You know, but not you sound a one. So it’s all about knowing what your what what is the core passion of what you do. And so like my core passion of what I do can always be summed down into into three categories. And that’s lifestyle beauty and refinement. Right. And so lifestyle that’s my wellness category.
00;52;00;18 – 00;52;02;17
Melissa Poepping
Like it’s it’s so important.
00;52;02;17 – 00;52;12;18
Melissa Poepping
For me to speak about wellness. I can’t not speak about wellness because if you if you’re not taking care of your body at a cellular level.
00;52;12;20 – 00;52;14;16
Melissa Poepping
Then you don’t.
00;52;14;19 – 00;52;35;25
Melissa Poepping
You’re you don’t have a good sleep cycle. Your Canadian rhythm is off and then your I mean, it affects your adrenals, it affects your metabolism. It affects your mood. It affects your energy. It affects your ability to even focus or to be able to absorb. Right. So it’s all about holistically refinement in those categories. You know. And then I’ve got beauty.
00;52;35;25 – 00;52;58;03
Melissa Poepping
That’s always been a very a very deep rooted passion for me. And when I sold my makeup line, the moment that I dropped that mike on stage and announced that, you know, there was a big Mike drop moment makeup and a screaming audience of 40,000 people in the stadium, you know, cheered louder for my entrance than they did for the.
00;52;58;05 – 00;52;58;12
Melissa Poepping
The.
00;52;58;13 – 00;53;10;23
Melissa Poepping
Owner of the company. I mean, it was from my kitchen table of a town of 68 people. I changed the face of a multi billion dollar company.
00;53;10;26 – 00;53;17;24
Melissa Poepping
Hi. Like hi. Okay. I mean that was a powerful moment.
00;53;17;27 – 00;53;25;27
Melissa Poepping
I mean, when they had the footage, it was like, you know, a rock star coming out on stage. I mean, people screaming and the tears streaming down their face.
00;53;26;00 – 00;53;26;29
Lauren Brollier Newton
00;53;27;01 – 00;53;32;08
Melissa Poepping
The moment that I dropped that mike, it was almost like instant regret.
00;53;32;10 – 00;53;32;24
Melissa Poepping
And I just.
00;53;32;24 – 00;53;44;17
Melissa Poepping
Felt like that was it. And I felt empty because so much had to go into the planning of that acquisition that that acquisition year. I mean, I was in Utah every two weeks. I was, you know, we had one.
00;53;44;17 – 00;53;45;24
Melissa Poepping
Year to put this.
00;53;45;24 – 00;54;03;29
Melissa Poepping
New line together, which is like unheard of because right now when I design, a product now, from the moment that I get the idea, like I just had an idea on Tuesday for a new product that doesn’t exist anywhere in the market. And so I meet with my chemist, I talk to my chemist, I tell them what I wanted to do, how I want it to function.
00;54;04;02 – 00;54;18;09
Melissa Poepping
Here’s the hero ingredients I want in it. And then those are formulated. And then we move into testing. We move into all these other things. It’s going to be three years before that product hits people’s hands. It’s a long process. If it’s something like a product that already exists.
00;54;18;14 – 00;54;20;04
Melissa Poepping
Well, you can still maybe push it, but it’s.
00;54;20;04 – 00;54;22;02
Melissa Poepping
18 months at minimum.
00;54;22;05 – 00;54;22;22
Melissa Poepping
That one.
00;54;22;22 – 00;54;29;23
Melissa Poepping
Year. There is a lot of work that went into this, and all of a sudden, you know, that whole year I had nothing to do but.
00;54;29;25 – 00;54;32;14
Melissa Poepping
Plan this, this, this line.
00;54;32;16 – 00;54;36;28
Melissa Poepping
So the moment I dropped the mic, it was released for me and I had nothing.
00;54;37;01 – 00;54;40;13
Melissa Poepping
And I just it felt so empty.
00;54;40;15 – 00;54;45;06
Melissa Poepping
And going back to the hotel, the amount of people that stopped me and we’re talking to me and they’re like, I can’t.
00;54;45;06 – 00;54;47;11
Melissa Poepping
Wait to see what you do next. Like, oh my God.
00;54;47;11 – 00;54;57;21
Melissa Poepping
And I’m like, I got back to my room and completely fell apart. I’m crying like freaked out. Like I don’t have anything that I never I didn’t take the time to think about anything.
00;54;57;21 – 00;54;58;22
Melissa Poepping
I didn’t like.
00;54;58;25 – 00;55;03;07
Melissa Poepping
There is no next. And I’ve never had that in my life where there was no next.
00;55;03;10 – 00;55;04;12
Melissa Poepping
And so into a.
00;55;04;12 – 00;55;31;16
Melissa Poepping
Pretty dark depression for a very long time. And it got pretty gut, pretty scary. So I knew that what was missing from my life, like my life, wasn’t going to be complete if I couldn’t bring beauty in that matter into women’s life. And if you know my my standards on ingredients, my standards on formulas, and not just dumbing this down to such a level where it’s so plant based, so vegan, that now you have something that doesn’t even work, but at least plant based and vegan like.
00;55;31;16 – 00;55;36;03
Melissa Poepping
Meanwhile, it’s wrecking your face because it’s not and it’s not doing anything.
00;55;36;05 – 00;55;38;18
Melissa Poepping
So. But being ingredient.
00;55;38;18 – 00;55;47;05
Melissa Poepping
Intelligence and really understanding the refining process of these ingredients, you know, some of these ingredients that we’re afraid of are actually safer than.
00;55;47;05 – 00;55;49;11
Melissa Poepping
Water like and helping.
00;55;49;11 – 00;56;01;19
Melissa Poepping
People actually understand that. And so what I’m able to create and what I’m able to formulate and the visions that I have for it now, my life feels so complete again, like I couldn’t imagine my life without that.
00;56;01;21 – 00;56;05;28
Melissa Poepping
And then the protein business, what I was telling you earlier, once you.
00;56;05;28 – 00;56;06;26
Melissa Poepping
Figure out how to.
00;56;06;26 – 00;56;07;23
Melissa Poepping
Do it.
00;56;07;25 – 00;56;11;23
Melissa Poepping
All you want to do is show everybody else how to do it. And so, you know.
00;56;11;23 – 00;56;13;23
Melissa Poepping
If if Martha Stewart had a coaching.
00;56;13;23 – 00;56;21;19
Melissa Poepping
Program. I love Martha, by the way. I’ve, I’ve been featured in her articles. I think it’s over 50 times now. So Martha is one of my favorites.
00;56;21;22 – 00;56;23;14
Melissa Poepping
But Stewart had a coaching.
00;56;23;14 – 00;56;30;11
Melissa Poepping
Program and she was like, had this container you could get into where you she had masterclasses and you could learn from her, like, sign.
00;56;30;11 – 00;56;32;00
Melissa Poepping
Me up.
00;56;32;03 – 00;56;33;20
Melissa Poepping
She was Sara Blakely.
00;56;33;24 – 00;56;34;19
Melissa Poepping
Or Victoria.
00;56;34;19 – 00;56;35;09
Melissa Poepping
Beckham.
00;56;35;09 – 00;56;39;19
Melissa Poepping
Like, when you have these wildly successful women, we should want to.
00;56;39;19 – 00;56;49;17
Melissa Poepping
Learn from them. And that’s the community we should want to create. And that doesn’t happen. So no matter how far braid goes, no matter how far that success catapults.
00;56;49;22 – 00;56;50;21
Melissa Poepping
I will always.
00;56;50;21 – 00;56;53;22
Melissa Poepping
Have my coaching platform because I always want to show women.
00;56;53;25 – 00;56;54;08
Melissa Poepping
It is.
00;56;54;14 – 00;57;07;26
Melissa Poepping
You can have your beauty, but it’s important to take care of yourself at a cellular level, and it’s important to take care of your mindset like it has to function together. So my biggest passion in life is elevating the feminine experience to holistically alignment and personal mastery.
00;57;08;01 – 00;57;08;21
Melissa Poepping
So you can live.
00;57;08;21 – 00;57;12;10
Melissa Poepping
A life of distinction. And that’s what it all boils down to.
00;57;12;10 – 00;57;14;07
Melissa Poepping
So you do have to niche your.
00;57;14;07 – 00;57;15;07
Melissa Poepping
Market down to a certain.
00;57;15;07 – 00;57;23;26
Melissa Poepping
Point, but it’s understand the what are the what are three things then I will never, ever be able to.
00;57;23;26 – 00;57;25;20
Melissa Poepping
Stop talking about.
00;57;25;22 – 00;57;27;13
Melissa Poepping
Right? Love that.
00;57;27;15 – 00;57;36;17
Melissa Poepping
That’s what it niches down to. And then there’s little areas, you know all around that. So I love cars. What am I going to talk to you about cars.
00;57;36;20 – 00;57;38;09
Melissa Poepping
No I mean maybe.
00;57;38;09 – 00;57;42;01
Melissa Poepping
A fun side conversation, but it’s not going to become a part of my market.
00;57;42;01 – 00;57;45;06
Melissa Poepping
Audience. So same story.
00;57;45;06 – 00;57;51;09
Melissa Poepping
I once did a reel and it went viral and I attracted 10,000 followers from prison.
00;57;51;11 – 00;58;01;24
Melissa Poepping
Oh, that’s funny how, why money market? That’s not even close.
00;58;01;26 – 00;58;05;28
Melissa Poepping
They’re they’re buying prey all from, all from their cells.
00;58;06;00 – 00;58;13;06
Melissa Poepping
No delivery to cellblock D. Yeah, well, I did not expect it. Did not see that coming.
00;58;13;06 – 00;58;16;29
Melissa Poepping
And when the comments first started coming in.
00;58;17;02 – 00;58;20;10
Melissa Poepping
And I think the real way, something like I was holding a couple bottles.
00;58;20;10 – 00;58;23;06
Melissa Poepping
Of wine, I’m like, just a friendly reminder.
00;58;23;06 – 00;58;26;00
Melissa Poepping
Before anybody loses them today.
00;58;26;00 – 00;58;26;27
Melissa Poepping
They don’t serve wine.
00;58;26;27 – 00;58;32;25
Melissa Poepping
In prison. If that was the real. Oh how funny. And I started watching the comments.
00;58;32;25 – 00;58;39;05
Melissa Poepping
Come in from then I’m like, oh, that’s really funny. That’s really funny. And then all of a sudden the comments were like, how do you actually make wine in prison?
00;58;39;05 – 00;59;03;11
Melissa Poepping
I’m like, oh my God, it was launching. But every time I hit refresh my follower account, it was like exploded. And I’m like, oh my God, I did not mean to do that. Yeah. So should we niche down so far like you’re going.
00;59;03;11 – 00;59;05;10
Melissa Poepping
To attract who you want to attract.
00;59;05;16 – 00;59;07;28
Melissa Poepping
But just lock into your.
00;59;07;28 – 00;59;25;27
Melissa Poepping
Passion. That’s the biggest thing because the moment that we start to move outside of that, that’s where you’re asking for trouble, because then you’re talking about something that you’re not genuinely connected to. It’s not, you know, it’s not one of your biggest passions. So I do think we can dish down, but I don’t think it has to be.
00;59;25;27 – 00;59;30;05
Melissa Poepping
So drilled down. Like you can leave it a little bit open because you.
00;59;30;05 – 00;59;32;05
Melissa Poepping
Never know where your next set of followers is.
00;59;32;05 – 00;59;34;17
Melissa Poepping
Going to come from. You never do know.
00;59;34;19 – 00;59;49;23
Lauren Brollier Newton
You know, this is so powerful, Melissa, because many of our coaches become coaches, but they had a different passion before coaching. For example, I was just working with a coach today who submitted a question to me that was like, I have this passion for music and I love coaching, and I’m like, you can combine those like it doesn’t.
00;59;49;29 – 01;00;08;16
Lauren Brollier Newton
It doesn’t have to be separate. What I love, what you’re saying is you have created a brand which brings in all your passions, and they’re all cohesive. But some of our coaches, I hope for those of you who are certified with us, you’re listening to this and seeing like, oh, it doesn’t have to just be one thing. It doesn’t just have to be the refining it personal development part.
01;00;08;16 – 01;00;11;17
Lauren Brollier Newton
It can also bring in this and that and this. And so helpful.
01;00;11;19 – 01;00;13;03
Melissa Poepping
We can get a little.
01;00;13;05 – 01;00;17;04
Melissa Poepping
Tripped up in our own mind about how to do that, because we might feel like.
01;00;17;07 – 01;00;18;07
Melissa Poepping
You know, oh, I saw.
01;00;18;07 – 01;00;20;11
Melissa Poepping
This, but I also saw this, and then I sell this.
01;00;20;11 – 01;00;24;28
Melissa Poepping
And are you also looking for a twin share? We can. It’s it’s a.
01;00;24;28 – 01;00;26;12
Melissa Poepping
Paradigm we have around.
01;00;26;12 – 01;00;27;00
Melissa Poepping
It.
01;00;27;02 – 01;00;44;01
Melissa Poepping
And so really if you just look at because I looked at how does my, how does essential oils, my makeup company and my coaching business, how does that all fit my books? And how do I not feel like I have something for everyone? So I had to look at that and say.
01;00;44;01 – 01;00;45;13
Melissa Poepping
At the core of.
01;00;45;13 – 01;00;57;03
Melissa Poepping
Each of those. So I had to do a lot of untangling with this. At the core of each of these, what what is at the center. And it was all about holistic refinement.
01;00;57;03 – 01;00;57;19
Melissa Poepping
Through.
01;00;57;25 – 01;01;14;04
Melissa Poepping
You know, personal mastery. And that is what beauty fits into. And that’s what lifestyle do. And then the coaching part of it, you know, being able to show everybody how to do this because that’s so important. So what is at the core of that.
01;01;14;06 – 01;01;14;18
Melissa Poepping
Area.
01;01;14;18 – 01;01;29;12
Melissa Poepping
Of passion is it’s teaching others. And so I can teach others to think about things in different ways and take all these, you know, the beautiful things that we’re learning. But now really understanding and stepping into the feminine energy part of.
01;01;29;12 – 01;01;30;03
Melissa Poepping
It has.
01;01;30;03 – 01;01;46;16
Melissa Poepping
Made it now it now it is such a squeaky clean golden line of thread connecting everything that I’ve just never felt more alive, like I just felt more alive. And that changes everything. But while you’re still trying to untangle it, it gets messy.
01;01;46;18 – 01;01;47;14
Melissa Poepping
But most.
01;01;47;14 – 01;01;49;01
Melissa Poepping
People will stop showing.
01;01;49;01 – 01;01;50;04
Melissa Poepping
Up with the.
01;01;50;04 – 01;01;51;05
Melissa Poepping
Moment that it starts.
01;01;51;05 – 01;01;52;00
Melissa Poepping
To tangle.
01;01;52;07 – 01;02;00;07
Melissa Poepping
People stop showing up, and that’s one of the biggest mistakes you can make because you’re never going to untangle it. If you go sit on the curb and eat a sandwich.
01;02;00;09 – 01;02;16;10
Lauren Brollier Newton
100%, 100%. So good. Okay, so I’m gonna ask you the question that I ask every guest who comes on this podcast. If you are starting a coaching business from the ground up, so you can’t take your list or your social following or anything like that, so you’re starting from scratch today. You can take your.
01;02;16;10 – 01;02;21;21
Lauren Brollier Newton
With you, the prisoners with me. You don’t get to take the prisoners. You don’t get to take any of that.
01;02;21;24 – 01;02;27;14
Lauren Brollier Newton
But you do get to take your awareness. What would be the first move that you would make?
01;02;27;16 – 01;02;44;21
Melissa Poepping
I think then it would be podcast and Instagram. That’s what I would do and I would, I would show well it’s kind of what I did in the beginning to build this. And I mean I just showed up on Facebook, I shared every thought that the pop up in the memories now and I’m like.
01;02;44;23 – 01;02;53;07
Melissa Poepping
And I have to start every thought. So I can delete that now. But, you know, back then when.
01;02;53;07 – 01;03;15;13
Melissa Poepping
I was in tethered to Anything and, you know, all I had to do, all I had was time to show up and, you know, fully connect in that way. That’s what I would do. I would just, you know, podcast and and completely unfiltered, completely uncensored on a censored on Instagram. That’s how I did it the first time, only with Facebook.
01;03;15;15 – 01;03;36;08
Melissa Poepping
And that’s how I would do it again every other time. I didn’t have a podcast then. That’s that’s one thing I’m bringing in different for 2025, but it’s all about building community and it starts. We all start at zero. We start at zero on day one. We all start at zero. We all started Instagram with zero followers.
01;03;36;11 – 01;03;40;21
Melissa Poepping
It was so humbling. You know, when I started the Beauty by Instagram account.
01;03;40;23 – 01;03;43;18
Melissa Poepping
That I’m like, here we go. I mean.
01;03;43;18 – 01;03;58;05
Melissa Poepping
Zero followers. I remember the day creating that account because I have 47,000 followers on my personal I’ve got, you know, I think 50 or 60,000 followers on, Facebook from you combine it, it’s pretty significant. And there you are creating a new account.
01;03;58;07 – 01;04;03;11
Lauren Brollier Newton
Zero I love that. I love that because it’s like, you’re right, we all do start at zero.
01;04;03;18 – 01;04;04;17
Melissa Poepping
Nothing humbles you.
01;04;04;17 – 01;04;06;20
Melissa Poepping
Faster than zero.
01;04;06;23 – 01;04;13;26
Melissa Poepping
Yeah. And gives you a goal. Right. And then watching that number slowly climb up and slowly climb up.
01;04;13;26 – 01;04;16;11
Melissa Poepping
And then you’re at the mercy of the algorithm.
01;04;16;13 – 01;04;19;00
Melissa Poepping
So even, you know, it’s it’s learning it.
01;04;19;00 – 01;04;22;03
Melissa Poepping
All over again. But you know, getting to.
01;04;22;06 – 01;04;22;17
Melissa Poepping
Getting to.
01;04;22;17 – 01;04;28;03
Melissa Poepping
Watch that number grow and you know, starting a new business. And I mean, yeah, five stars.
01;04;28;03 – 01;04;35;12
Melissa Poepping
Highly recommend how you should be. You know, while we’re busy contemplating should I do it. How should I do this. When should I do this?
01;04;35;18 – 01;04;40;00
Melissa Poepping
Someone’s dog is making six figures on Instagram.
01;04;40;03 – 01;04;44;28
Melissa Poepping
Yeah. So true. Stop contemplating. Just do the damn thing. Yes.
01;04;44;28 – 01;05;01;04
Lauren Brollier Newton
Just put it out there. So I said it was going to be my last question, but I have two more. Because for for those of you who who don’t know you yet or haven’t followed you, you talked about selling your your makeup line to the multi-level company feeling empty. And we keep mentioning Frey, but some people might not know what that is.
01;05;01;04 – 01;05;03;28
Lauren Brollier Newton
So can you just briefly share and then how to do it?
01;05;03;28 – 01;05;05;04
Lauren Brollier Newton
What love to.
01;05;05;06 – 01;05;07;13
Melissa Poepping
So Rei cosmetics VRA.
01;05;07;13 – 01;05;10;07
Lauren Brollier Newton
I Rei is French for.
01;05;10;07 – 01;05;22;22
Melissa Poepping
True and what’s real. So the whole ethos of the brand is around confidence and beauty and empowerment and really finding yourself. And that’s what makeup is that we are so lucky as women.
01;05;22;24 – 01;05;24;03
Melissa Poepping
Because we.
01;05;24;03 – 01;05;27;14
Melissa Poepping
Get to through our hair, through our clothes, we wear makeup, we.
01;05;27;14 – 01;05;28;15
Melissa Poepping
Get to take.
01;05;28;17 – 01;05;34;16
Melissa Poepping
With the every woman does this. You stand in front of the mirror in the morning. You’re like, what do I feel like today?
01;05;34;18 – 01;05;35;05
Lauren Brollier Newton
Exactly?
01;05;35;12 – 01;05;56;18
Melissa Poepping
That’s the first question. What archetype do I feel like today? Like, how do I want to show up? And we pick out the outfit based on that feeling and then we go do our hair based on that feeling, and then we do our makeup based on that feeling. And all of a sudden we’re bringing this, this inside feeling of who we want to be.
01;05;56;18 – 01;05;59;07
Melissa Poepping
We’re bringing it out for expression.
01;05;59;09 – 01;06;00;07
Melissa Poepping
And it’s so.
01;06;00;07 – 01;06;05;26
Melissa Poepping
Beautiful that we get to do that. I love that so much. And so me.
01;06;05;27 – 01;06;06;12
Melissa Poepping
The whole.
01;06;06;12 – 01;06;24;01
Melissa Poepping
Tagline of it is find your truth really about helping women find their truth. So all these empowering messages are built into everything. And I just, I’m in the process of formulating. I saw the message come through. I have to approve the final ingredient list for the for the lip, the lip color for the lipsticks and the lip glosses.
01;06;24;04 – 01;06;28;10
Melissa Poepping
There were some things I wanted to take out of it. And even then, giving them their name.
01;06;28;12 – 01;06;29;08
Melissa Poepping
I chose names.
01;06;29;08 – 01;06;33;28
Melissa Poepping
That were, you know, like, I color and or sassy or, you know.
01;06;34;01 – 01;06;38;20
Melissa Poepping
I, I chose really gorgeous words.
01;06;38;20 – 01;06;44;24
Melissa Poepping
Like Helen and what that means in creating this beauty to bring to the surface.
01;06;44;27 – 01;06;46;08
Melissa Poepping
So it’s a word.
01;06;46;11 – 01;07;08;27
Melissa Poepping
That most people wouldn’t use in their everyday language, but the meaning of it is so profound because put that color on. When you put that shade on, that’s how you should feel. And so there’s beauty and empowerment wrapped in the whole message of it. But if you go to Vray cosmetics.com, you can step into that little corner of my world and it is luxury cosmetics redefined.
01;07;08;27 – 01;07;21;26
Melissa Poepping
So everything is ingredient intelligent. So everything has to be safe. I exceed the EU standards. In fact, I get into I get into heated conversations sometimes with.
01;07;21;26 – 01;07;22;16
Melissa Poepping
With.
01;07;22;18 – 01;07;25;00
Melissa Poepping
My reps and with my team because.
01;07;25;03 – 01;07;25;12
Melissa Poepping
They’ll.
01;07;25;12 – 01;07;26;26
Melissa Poepping
Go to the lab and they’re.
01;07;26;26 – 01;07;27;27
Melissa Poepping
Like, what do you.
01;07;27;27 – 01;07;34;29
Melissa Poepping
Mean? She doesn’t want that ingredient in it? Because they present to me exactly what I wanted. Only they’ve added something in there. Like, we.
01;07;35;00 – 01;07;35;14
Melissa Poepping
Really think.
01;07;35;14 – 01;07;36;01
Melissa Poepping
She’s going to love.
01;07;36;01 – 01;07;36;11
Melissa Poepping
It.
01;07;36;13 – 01;07;40;16
Melissa Poepping
And then I get the ingredient list. I’m like, we can’t put that in there. Why would you put that in there now?
01;07;40;16 – 01;07;43;18
Melissa Poepping
Like you didn’t have it written anywhere. We can’t. I’m like.
01;07;43;20 – 01;07;45;18
Melissa Poepping
I think it’s pretty obvious.
01;07;45;20 – 01;07;52;25
Melissa Poepping
Oh it’s not. And so I, I can tell them follow the EU clean list.
01;07;52;27 – 01;08;06;18
Melissa Poepping
But then there’s stuff on there that I don’t allow like fragrance or, photography. Ethanol in certain products or, you know, because it is okay in some that it’s not okay and others and there’s, there’s ingredient intelligence to that.
01;08;06;20 – 01;08;10;17
Melissa Poepping
And so they don’t it’s not like I want plant.
01;08;10;17 – 01;08;13;10
Melissa Poepping
Based and I’m vegan. Then they have their list.
01;08;13;17 – 01;08;16;14
Melissa Poepping
Right. So there is no standard.
01;08;16;14 – 01;08;27;01
Melissa Poepping
To what I’m doing. So they’ve had to make up a word in the lab that my lab and that I’m using in Italy. One’s in Korea, one’s in California. So these labs all over the world that are created.
01;08;27;01 – 01;08;29;01
Melissa Poepping
For major.
01;08;29;03 – 01;08;35;18
Melissa Poepping
Brands, created a term called verified.
01;08;35;20 – 01;08;39;23
Melissa Poepping
I love that, I love that. So it’s the lingo that they’re all using with.
01;08;39;23 – 01;08;40;04
Melissa Poepping
Each other.
01;08;40;04 – 01;08;41;03
Melissa Poepping
Now. They’re like.
01;08;41;05 – 01;08;45;15
Melissa Poepping
Has this been verified before we send this to Melissa, has somebody verified this.
01;08;45;17 – 01;08;46;12
Melissa Poepping
Like that?
01;08;46;12 – 01;08;51;27
Melissa Poepping
I created a new standard and I love that so much. And they’re learning something.
01;08;51;29 – 01;08;53;01
Melissa Poepping
Because I’m like, I’m fine.
01;08;53;01 – 01;08;58;12
Melissa Poepping
If an oxy ethanol is in the mascara. But you are not putting it in the skincare.
01;08;58;14 – 01;09;02;11
Melissa Poepping
They’re like, why? I’m like, because, you know, and I can.
01;09;02;11 – 01;09;04;25
Melissa Poepping
Bring them down. Me the education of of why?
01;09;04;25 – 01;09;05;25
Melissa Poepping
And they’re like.
01;09;05;28 – 01;09;28;19
Lauren Brollier Newton
Oh so great. Oh my gosh, Melissa, you gave us so much to think about. For all of our coaches here at the Institute and those who are thinking about becoming part of our world know that a large part of what we talk about is vision centered coaching. And when you talked about the vision of, I’m going to change the census in this town, I’m going to change the face of how we talk about cosmetics.
01;09;28;19 – 01;09;37;17
Lauren Brollier Newton
You just gave us such a higher bar to dream for ourselves from, and I’m so thankful you came on the show. So, any other links you want to give the audience before we go?
01;09;37;20 – 01;09;38;12
Melissa Poepping
It would mean.
01;09;38;12 – 01;09;55;29
Melissa Poepping
So very much to me. If you follow me on social media, step into my world and see how I do things a little bit different. I don’t have, you know, a posting calendar. I don’t have this. I don’t have that. I do everything different. So if I feel like saying it, I show up and say it. If I feel like sharing it, I show up and share it.
01;09;55;29 – 01;10;17;11
Melissa Poepping
I mean, to untether yourself from the stress of like, here’s my social media 30 day strategy calendar. This is what I post, and forcing content to check the boxes. I don’t do that, so everything that I do is authentic. It’s very in the moment and I love being able to connect with people. I just feel like even though it’s a no matter how big the audience is, it always feels like one on one to me.
01;10;17;14 – 01;10;21;16
Melissa Poepping
So you can follow my personal Instagram at Melissa Happiness.

In this powerful episode of The Abundant Coach, host Lauren Brollier Newton sits down with Melissa Poepping—visionary entrepreneur, coach, and founder of multiple seven-figure companies in beauty, wellness, and personal development.
Their conversation centers around a revolutionary idea that is transforming the way we do business: feminine leadership.
Far from being just a buzzword, feminine leadership is about embodying your truth, trusting your intuition, and creating success through alignment rather than hustle. For Melissa, this way of leading didn’t just help her build a business—it helped her build a life of purpose, presence, and prosperity.
Melissa shares her deeply personal journey, beginning in a small town where opportunities were limited and mentorship was hard to find. Despite the odds, she went on to create several multi-million dollar brands by following her intuition, leaning into her personal growth, and staying connected to her calling.
Her story is a testament to the power of vision, resilience, and feminine energy in business. Rather than pushing harder, she chose to rise higher—and the results speak for themselves.
Throughout the episode, Melissa and Lauren unpack what feminine leadership looks and feels like in practice. It’s not about doing less—it’s about doing what’s most aligned. It’s about leading from your whole self: heart, body, soul, and strategy.
They explore how this shift in leadership transforms your business from the inside out. You become magnetic to the right clients. You stop performing for success and start embodying it. You build wealth without compromising your authenticity.
They also discuss the difference between force and flow, and why this energetic shift is essential for coaches who want to build legacy businesses that are both powerful and sustainable.
Melissa makes it clear: becoming a great coach isn’t just about skill-building—it’s about identity. Feminine leadership calls you to do the inner work, again and again, so you can lead others from a grounded, embodied place.
Lauren and Melissa reflect on how personal development is not a one-time event—it’s a lifestyle. And for those called to coach, that commitment to growth becomes the foundation for deep service and sustainable success.
This episode is a call to all aspiring coaches and conscious entrepreneurs: your path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. You don’t have to burn out to build. You don’t have to abandon your softness to lead. You are allowed to rise through grace, magnetism, and wholeness.
As more women embrace feminine leadership, the coaching industry itself is being redefined. It’s no longer just about scaling faster—it’s about scaling deeper. And Melissa’s story offers a beautiful and practical roadmap for doing just that.
Melissa Poepping is a transformational leader, coach, and founder of several high-impact brands.
