When other kids were watching Saturday morning cartoons, Lauren Brollier watched Joyce Meyer Ministries growing up. She didn’t want to be minister, but she did want to speak to people and make a difference in the world!
Convinced that teaching was the path she should follow, Lauren became a school district reading specialist. She knew that she was doing good work in the world. She had the privilege of serving the most underserved kids and could see that she was making a difference in their lives.
So why was she filled with so much longing and discontent? She was finally living what she thought was her dream, but she was left with a nagging feeling that she was not living her soul’s purpose.
Lauren recognized that part of her discontent revolved around complaints that many teachers shared: Working too many hours, but not earning enough money. She was working 50 to 60 hours a week, served on multiple committees, and commuted 1 hour each way to and from work. Opening her $3,500 paycheck at the end of each month, she’d think about her mortgage, car payment, student loans, and other bills and wonder how she’d ever get ahead when she was always struggling to make ends meet.
Other areas of her life were suffering, too. Stressed and burned out, she was overweight and had high blood pressure. Only 29 years old, she was terrified of going on medication for fear of being on it forever.
And perhaps most distressing, she felt incredibly alone in her new marriage. At night, her husband would get into bed, curl up as far away from her as possible, and go to sleep. She felt like their relationship had devolved into her begging for affection and never getting it. Deep down, she believed that she was at fault — that if she weren’t so flawed, her husband would be affectionate and love her.
One day, Lauren’s husband came home, told her that he didn’t love her, and uttered 5 words she will never forget: “You’re not my dream girl.” Then he proceeded to run through a list of reasons he didn’t think she measured up to his expectations: Not being fit enough, not making enough money, and “not bringing anything to the table.”
Two weeks later, Lauren found out that her husband had a girlfriend. He moved out, taking their 2 dogs without giving Lauren a chance to say goodbye to them.
With her life collapsing around her, Lauren received an invitation to join a friend at DreamBuilder LIVE. As she says now, “I had no idea what that was or what that meant. But I thought to myself, ‘If there is anybody who needs a dream, it’s me.’”
Attending the event and hearing Mary Morrissey speak gave Lauren a deep understanding of what had occurred and maybe why it had occurred. Over the course of the event, she realized something that changed everything: the life that had collapsed around her wasn’t really even the life that she wanted! She also got in touch with two dreams: Falling in love again and becoming a speaker who helped other women.
Mary presented 2 opportunities that Lauren wanted to take advantage of: Brave Thinking Masters and the transformational life coach training and certification program: Life Mastery Consultants. She knew that she would benefit, but she was afraid.
“Lauren, you suck at love and money,” she said to herself. “There’s no way you’re going to be able to create this relationship you’re dreaming of and own your own business.”
But then another part of her — the part that wanted to move forward, the part of her that had wanted to be a speaker as a little girl — nudged her again. Lauren chose to listen, telling herself, “Not listening hasn’t worked for you. It’s time to start listening.”
Lauren jumped into both programs and listened to Mary’s teachings and guidance, the support she received from the Brave Thinking Institute team, and her own intuition. She quit a job that she loved for something she loves even more!
Now a full-time speaker and coach, Lauren owns her own business and employs 3 people. She went from making $45,000 a year to $400,000 — and has a plan to multiply her revenue even further in the coming years.
Almost daily, she receives emails from people who have heard and been touched by her message. Her work energizes her, so she’s able to take excellent care of herself and invest in people she cares about. She’s lost 11 pounds and lowered her blood pressure.
Perhaps most importantly, she released her anger and resentment toward her ex-husband. She now feels grateful about his betrayal, recognizing that his choice to share his truth set her free to have the life and impact she now has.
Lauren leaned into her second vision of falling in love again, and soon met the love of her life, Cameron. Together, they created a dream of living within walking distance of the beach in California. They’ve built an amazing life together, complete with two cats.
“I went from being a broke, divorced school teacher, totally down on myself, living at my parents’ house to being a lit-up-in-love, highly successful business owner, employer and coach, making a tremendous impact on the lives that I’m able to reach,” she says. “I am so grateful to Mary and the team. I could have never done this without you.”
Although the details of Lauren’s success story are unique, her success is not!
