Whether you’re consciously aware of it or not, negative vibrations and negative energy can seriously impact your life. To perform at your best and remain effective as a coach, you want to develop some cleansing practices to clear any negative energy from coaching clients…
If you’ve worked with clients 1-on-1 as a coach, or healer to help them overcome a struggle, challenge, or to get unstuck, there’s a good chance you’ve been on the receiving end of negative energy before!
Likely unintentional, clients can share their negative vibrational state with coaches or healers as they work through challenges.
If left un-released this stagnant negative energy can get stuck or stored, and if you are particularly empathic and energy-sensitive, it can make you feel energetically drained, burned out, and it can even lead to energy imbalances and dis-ease.
All of which will limit your ability to perform at your best, in your most vibrant self, for decades to come in this field and get the best results you desire for your clients!
So what can be done to release this negative energy and prevent it from becoming toxic to you over time?
In this article I’ll be sharing 10 simple ways to clear negative energy after a coaching call.
Let’s dive in!
1. Take A Bath With Epsom Salts
Taking a bath with salts and essential oils after a call is a super effective way to clear your energetic residue from the session.
Epsom salts are great for negative energy cleansing and are known to clear the aura and energy field around the body.
You can also add in some lavender oil or any other essential oil you’d like for its aroma and healing properties.
A 15-20 minute soak should allow you to release any physical tension in your body, and focus on relaxation and stress relief, to let go of those negative feelings.
2. Shake Your Body Out Like A Ragdoll
Now I know this one sounds a bit silly, but shaking your body free of negative or excess energy has been proven to work!
To do this, start by shaking each leg, then move up through the arms, head, and torso and continue to shake your whole body until you begin to feel lighter.
It can be useful to play a fun playful song and treat this as a kind of funny ‘dance’. You can think of a dog shaking water off of its fur, or your body being like a dusty rug, and you are shaking out the dust.
While doing this activity, try to imagine the low vibration energy falling to the earth to be recycled and renewed, and picture your body refilling with love and light energy. Be sure to take a few deep breaths and you should start feeling better in no time!
3. Spend Time In Nature
If you need to clear your head and release negative energy, one of the easiest and most effective methods accessible to everyone is to take a walk outside.
There is nothing like the simple pleasure of walking through nature to center yourself and bring you closer to who you really are, allowing yourself time alone with your thoughts and feelings.
You can also practice a technique called “Earthing”, which means walking barefoot on the ground, and touching trees and plants as you pass by.
Understandably, this isn’t for everyone, but it’s an easy and effective way to release negative energy that many people swear by.
If the thought of walking barefoot puts you off the earthing practice, try standing on grass or dirt or just imagining roots growing down from your feet, connecting you to the earth.
4. Have A Massage
If possible, find a masseuse who knows healing energy work to cleanse negative energy. The energy of their hands can have a powerful, rejuvenating effect on the body, and your physical health and the relaxation of the massage will also put you in a better state of mind to continue with your day.
Much like the other methods, it’s important to try to center yourself in the moment and really feel your body.
Obviously having access to a masseuse every day isn’t practical for most people, so this method is probably best saved for when you really feel in need of a major reset!
5. Make Use Of Essential Oils, Incense & Sage
Oils, fragrances and incense have been used for centuries as a means to clear negative energy. They make great cleansing agents because they smell wonderful and promote mental clarity (which can be important if you find yourself feeling especially down).
Peppermint oil is a good option for coaches because it’s refreshing, stimulating, and energizing, but each person will have their own preferred scent.
If you want to try using white sage, simply burn a sage bundle or palo santo and waft it around your energy body and your physical space.
6. Give Healing Crystals A Try
A crystal’s ability to attract and absorb negative energy makes it a wonderful tool for purifying a space before or after someone enters it.
If you’re physically meeting a client, you may place a crystal in the room ahead of time to absorb any residual low vibration energy, or if you’re speaking over video chat, you may use one by your desk.
Make sure you choose crystals based on the properties of the crystal itself. Some crystals are well known for their negative energy absorption effects, such as rose quartz, amethyst, smoky quartz, and citrine. Agate and black tourmaline are also good choices as they work well as protection stones.
7. Practice Meditation & Breathwork
Take mindful breaths to release negative energy. If you’re not already in the habit of meditating, this would be a great time to begin!
Meditation is mindfulness training that helps you become aware of any thoughts or feelings that might arise and let them go before they can stick.
It is like taking out the mental trash – letting go of anything that no longer serves your higher purpose of self-love and awareness. Of course, it’s also worth doing simply for its many other benefits!
The practice of breathwork will also help you release negative energy. Here is a brief example: Inhale for a count of five seconds, hold your breath for a few seconds, exhale for a count of seven seconds and pause again before repeating the cycle.
This makes up one round- take as many rounds as you feel is necessary to clear out what’s been bothering you.
You can also add visualization to the breathwork practice – breathing in white or gold light and the energy of cleansing and protection, breathing out any stress or negative energies you may have picked up during the day.
8. Enjoy Sound Therapy
Sound healing, where a musician healer is trained to use singing bowls, drums, flutes, a didgeridoo, and other instruments is widely respected to be an effective tool for healing and protecting from negative influences.
You can try listening to some audio of professional musicians using Tibetan singing bowls, or a similar instrument… or even better, get your own bowl!
Just strike the outside edge of the bowl and allow it to resonate for a few seconds before slowly moving around your space with it, allowing the vibrations to purify every corner of your being and your room.
9. Try Candle Burning
Similar to sage burning, candle burning works by wafting smoke in your space and burning away negative energy. To try this method, you’ll need a white candle that you can light in your workspace.
After a call with a client, simply light the white candle and either walk around the room with it or place it next to where you do most of your work to absorb some of the excess energy. This is perfect for use by your work desk, especially if paired with the use of a crystal!
10. Practice Mind-Body-Spirit Movement
Yoga or tai chi are good ways to release negative energy through your body and have been used for various means including spiritual healing.
Each is a practice that brings you into the present moment, not thinking about the past or future but focusing on what is right before you in this one instance of time.
You can experience freedom from negative energy when you are able to be fully present with yourself and what is happening with your body.
If you love to move and dance, I invite you to join my “TranscenDance Class.” The entire class is designed to cleanse and release stuck energy through mind-body-spirit movement, and many of the coaches who try it find it incredibly effective for resetting and renewing energy.
So there you have it! 10 practices for clearing negative energy after working with a client.
Before we go, I want to leave you with one final piece of advice…
A proactive solution you can use to shield yourself from negative energy before your coaching calls! (Afterall, prevention is the best “cure!”)
Before you have your coaching calls, I encourage you to create a protective energetic bubble around your space by visualizing an energy field sphere surrounding you and filling that bubble with Divine light, positive energy, and love from your higher power.
This energy bubble will allow all the love and positive energy in but will protect you and deflect any lower vibration energy that might be coming your way.
I hope you put these practices to good use in your coaching practice, and your life!
