If you would love to stop abusing your body and cultivating even more self-love and freedom, you are going to love what I have in store for you.
Before we get to enjoy more body freedom, what’s first required is entering what I call is the “dark cave.” So let me start by revealing my dirty little secret? I used to be a “body self-abuser”? Yep, all the way.
As a professional dancer I had a slew of deep, dark, very rooted, limiting beliefs and habits that kept me in pain mentally and physically. In order to shift, I needed to first identify these dark beliefs and face them with courage and bravery.
My Body-Abuser’s Dis-empowering, Limiting Beliefs:
- No pain – No gain.
- Deprivation and starvation creates results.
- All work, No rest.
- I resist and control my body’s urges and desires at all costs.
- I mold and whip my body into the shape I desire.
- Body fat is bad, ugly, and must be burned and removed at all costs.
- My curves must be controlled and tamed.
I had the courage and bravery to enter the dark cave, and face these limiting beliefs, and one by one, remove the hold they had on my life, my body, my energy and my freedom.
Now over 20 years later – as a thought leader in the fields of personal development, a master health & wellbeing expert, and a conscious dance global leader – I have found inner peace, I am at home in my body temple, and I’m full of energy, radiance and aliveness! And I have helped thousands of others to do the same.
My New Body-Freedom Empowering Beliefs:
- Pleasure, movement, fitness, wellbeing and radiance is my birthright.
- Listening to my body’s inner wisdom and nourishing my body creates vitality.
- Fulfilling work and regular renewal creates optimal wellbeing.
- I listen to and honor my body’s deeper wisdom.
- As I love my body I trust my body to find a healthy size and shape.
- Body fat is normal, creates beautiful curves, and can be allowed and appreciated.
- My curves represent my feminine body and womanly empowerment.

Tool #1: From Traditional Dance & Fitness Classes to Integrating Conscious Dance as a Regular Wellness Practice Tool for Transformation
It’s NOT your fault – just like me, you probably learned some of these things in either traditional fitness or dance training or simply in gym class growing up.
We learned the body is to be molded and shaped to fit a certain standard. That calories in – calories out is what helps us lose weight and reach our body goals. And the body is to be ignored, and it’s even OK to abuse your body if it gets you what you want. However, I have good news, Conscious Dance teaches another way…
Unlike traditional dance classes where you follow a teacher’s lead the whole time, conscious dance classes are student-centered, following your own body’s lead. The body is intelligent, connected to the mind & spirit. To be honored, listened to, and cherished. Movement is intended to grow the whole person: emotionally, physically and spiritually.
I invested the last two decades studying varying conscious dance modalities and this has led me to taking all of the wisdom and magic I have discovered in creating TranscenDance™ , which is UNIQUE, and you won’t find anywhere else out there.

Tool #2: Treat Your Body Like Your Best Friend
Imagine your body is like your best friend. You would never allow anyone to speak negatively about your best friend or put her/him down, or abuse them, right? Well, when you hear your own inner critic speaking negatively about yourself or your body, imagine your critic was saying those things to your best friend, or treating him/her negatively or with abuse? How would you feel, and what would you say or do to defend your friend? Be your own best friend, and speak to yourself, and treat yourself with love and kindness.
Once you have more acceptance for who you truly are, you can begin to love yourself right where you are. You can then shift the energy from fixing your flaws and whipping yourself into shape in a slave-driving, punishing way, and instead you can love, nurture, and honor the body you’ve been gifted right now.
Tool #3: Trust Your Body Wisdom
The body is like a river of information and energy, we are learning, and all its parts have a dynamic communication with all the other parts.
Our body organs communicate directly with the brain and vice versa, through chemical messengers known as neuropeptides. These neuropeptides pass messages between nerve cells; neuropeptides receptor molecules then receive messages that are triggered to be released by emotions and thoughts.
Not only do our physical organs contain receptor sites for the neurochemicals of thought and emotion, our organs and immune systems can themselves manufacture these same chemicals. What this means is that our entire body feels and expresses emotion – all parts of us think and feel.
When we search for inner guidance with the intellect only – as though it exists outside of our own deepest knowing and ourselves – we get stuck in the search, and our inner guidance is effectively silenced. The intellect works best in service to our intuition, our inner guidance, soul, God, or higher power – whichever term we choose for the spiritual energy that animates life.
Once we have acknowledged that we are more than our intellect and that guidance is available to us from the universal mind, and deeper body wisdom, we have accessed our inner healing ability. When we begin to truly feel our feelings, and trust our gut, and open our heart, we can thrive in our natural born state of being fully connected in mind-body & spirit.
