Spark My Fire
Spotlighting Facilitator Luz Torres
This month we introduce you to our sister in dance, Luz Angelica Torres. She’s a single mom to an amazing young man, and the radiant soul behind her coaching brand Transformational Life Coaching & Consulting with Luz. She has written an Amazon bestseller and is certified Life Mastery Consultant™, TranscenDance™ Level II Facilitator, and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.
Luz’s journey is one of unwavering commitment to uplifting those around her and being a light in the world (which is her name translated into English — light). With an embrace as warm as her spirit, Luz draws upon over a decade of profound service to ignite a spark within individuals, urging them to weave their aspirations into tangible actions to embody their highest potential.
How did she get where she is today? She sparked her own fire within, and that spark came from saying YES to events and experiences that at the time she didn’t know would lead her out of the world of feeling overworked and under-rested to the world of TranscenDance™, with new-found freedom and energy.
In 2016, Luz reluctantly attended a self care workshop her job was hosting. They had brought in a woman named… yup you guessed it, none other than our very own Jennifer Joy Jimenéz. Luz immediately felt and loved Jennifer’s energy, and knew she wanted a piece of whatever that magic was for herself.
One of Luz’s first memories at this event was the mirror dance. She noticed how her energy felt before the mirror dance, and how she felt afterwards knowing she had permission to move and laugh. (“Some ladies even took their shoes off”). This was enough of a shift to have Luz running for the back table to sign up for the Vibrant Healthy Woman program to work with Jennifer which also ended with a retreat! And each time she did TranscenDance™ classes, she felt a spark: “When I move I come alive.”
The more Luz danced, the more she noticed that this was a different type of freedom she was experiencing. She began to use it in a more daily fashion. She says now, “When I don’t know what is happening or what to do I dance and get clarity and new energy for the action I want to take.”
After 6 months of classes and working with Jennifer in her signature Vibrant Healthy Woman Coaching Program, Luz was on her way to Tulum, experiencing the inaugural launch of Jennifer’s Tulum Transformational Women’s Retreat. It was through the excursions and immersions that Luz had profound healings and releases: “I realized that I was more than just a mom, everything was not just about my son, I reconnected to a part of myself that allowed love in and began to ask myself what would I love,” she said.
And just like that, Luz was asked out on a date before the end of the retreat. Luz signed up for 1:1 coaching sessions, and over the next few years she had another retreat under belt — and was being lit up even more. This sparked her to create a business plan and become a life coach, where she could help parents on their journey. Thriving on the support and like minded friendships along the way, she was met with more inner joy and movement was a part of those things. “There really is something to this moving thing,” she says.
In 2019, Jennifer asked Luz to be an ambassador for her retreats, and she began helping on many of Jennifer’s inaugural events and retreats. That led to Luz being certified as a Level I and then a Level II TranscenDance™ Facilitator. More and more, TranscenDance™ became an even bigger part of her life, creating a healing space for her and her son to communicate better, as well as support to her clients.
While Luz was talking about her experiences, one of her biggest wins was brought to light as her son Daniel stopped in for a moment, as he has just moved back in with Luz. He was asked: “If your mother had never done the work on herself and things kept going the way they had, would you have ever moved back in?” His answer was “No, I would not have moved back in.” A true testament to how powerful self-love and commitment is, and how it shapes and creates our relationships for the better.
Luz has been using these tools and TranscenDance™ to not just get her through life, but to help her thrive in life. Now when faced with life’s challenges, Luz knows has to shift her mood in minutes. She dances, overcomes, and falls in love with who she really is each day deeper and deeper.
These days, you can find Luz teaching TranscenDance™ online, in person and in Spanish! She uses it in schools for mindfulness labs for kids, for her PSA team at their self-care conference, and as an ambassador at all of Jennifer’s retreats and the list goes on.
“TranscenDance™ has 100% been a part of my healing journey,” Luz says. “I feel more vibrant and energized than I have in my entire life.”
We celebrate you Luz, for all of the times you said YES to yourself and to TranscenDance™!
Come move with us!

Beyond The Beat
Honoring the Global Language of Movement
On April 29, dancers and enthusiasts around the world will come together to celebrate International Dance Day — a day dedicated to the universal language of movement and its profound impact on culture, expression, and community. It was originally created in 1982 by the International Dance Council (CID), an organization founded under the auspices of UNESCO, and happens on the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), the creator of modern ballet. But, what is the significance of this day? Why do we honor it with such reverence?
Preserving Tradition, Inspiring Innovation
International Dance Day serves as a platform for raising awareness about the importance of dance in all its forms. Throughout history, dance has served as a powerful means of communication, storytelling, and expression. From ancient rituals and tribal ceremonies, to modern-day performances and social dances, movement has played a central role in human culture and identity.
Dancers and choreographers have long been guardians of tradition, preserving cultural heritage through their artistry and skill. From classical ballet to traditional folk dances, these artists ensure that the rich tapestry of human movement is passed down from generation to generation, keeping alive the stories, rituals, and traditions of cultures around the world.
But dance is not just about preserving the past — it is also about inspiring the future. Dancers are innovators, constantly pushing the boundaries of movement and expression to create new forms, styles, and techniques. Through their creativity and vision, dancers challenge conventions, provoke thought, and ignite passion, shaping the evolution of dance for generations to come.
One of the most beautiful aspects of dance is its ability to transcend boundaries and unite people from all walks of life. Whether performed on grand stages or in intimate settings, dance has the power to connect us in ways that words cannot. It speaks to our shared humanity, expressing emotions, ideas, and experiences that resonate across cultures and continents.
On International Dance Day, we celebrate this global community of dancers and dance enthusiasts who share a common love and appreciation for the art of movement. From professional performers to amateur enthusiasts, we come together to honor the diversity, beauty, and power of dance in all its forms.
As we celebrate International Dance Day, let us reflect on the importance of dance in our lives and in our world. Let us recognize the role that dancers and choreographers play in preserving tradition, inspiring innovation, and fostering connection. And let us commit ourselves to supporting and promoting dance in all its forms, ensuring that future generations have the opportunity to experience the joy, beauty, and transformative power of movement.
So, whether you’re a seasoned professional or a novice enthusiast, a conscious authentic mover or a closet wiggler, take a moment on April 29th to dance — to express yourself, to connect with others, and to celebrate the universal language of movement. After all, as Martha Graham famously said, “Dance is the hidden language of the soul.”
8 Mind Body Miracles:
The Surprising Benefits of TranscenDance™
Do you know how TranscenDance™ was born?
Before Jennifer left for New York at the age of 18 to become a professional dancer, her mom gave her a book called Maps to Ecstasy, by Gabrielle Roth. For years, it just sat on her nightstand until her soul was ready to hear and receive the book’s deep wisdom and teaching.
Gabrielle wrote, “Only when you truly inhabit your body can you begin the healing journey.”
She also wrote:
“So the body is where the dancing path to wholeness must begin. So many of us are not in our bodies, really at home and vibrantly present there. Nor are we in touch with the basic rhythms that constitute our bodily life. We live outside ourselves – in our heads, our memories, our belongings – absentee landlords of our own estate. A brochure I saw at a chiropractor’s office says: ‘If you wear out your body, where are you going to live?’
Despite years of formal training, she found herself disconnected from her body’s natural rhythms. It wasn’t until she encountered conscious dance that she experienced true freedom of movement.
As she embarked on her journey of self-discovery, she realized the profound impact of conscious dance on her physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Through the transformative power of movement, she reconnected with her body and unleashed a sense of joy and liberation she had never known.
Her path to enlightenment was not without challenges. A 50-hour labor during childbirth served as a wake-up call, prompting her to explore the mind-body connection in search of healing and understanding. It was through this exploration that she discovered the transcendent experience of conscious dance, a practice that would ultimately become the foundation of TranscenDance™.
Inspired by her own transformation, our founder has dedicated her life to sharing the gift of conscious dance with others. Through TranscenDance™, she empowers individuals of all ages and backgrounds to reconnect with their bodies, tap into their inner strength, and embrace the fullness of life.
The 8 Surprising Mind-Body Benefits of TranscenDance™ Include:
This conscious dance practice has completely transformed lives, instilling confidence, vitality, and a renewed sense of purpose in countless individuals around the world. From natural childbirth to entrepreneurial success, the benefits of TranscenDance™ extend far beyond the dance floor.
