Surrender to Self-Care
Spotlighting Facilitator Dr. Adina Isebelle Ravenswood
We are thrilled to share the story of our TranscenDance™ sister Dr. Adina Isebelle Ravenswood.
Dr. Ravenswood is a TranscenDance™ Facilitator who has found her true calling through a powerful blend of dance and spirituality. Her journey began with a deep love for dance, which she nurtured for years as a belly dance instructor since 2001. However, her spiritual awakening led her to seek more than just movement — she craved a practice that would nourish her on a deeper level.
Through her study of spiritual principles she was introduced to Mary Morrissey and the Brave Thinking Institute. Adina was certified as a DreamBuilder coach in 2012 which brought her to DreamBuilder Live. At this event in 2013, Mary Morrissey introduced Adina to Jennifer Joy Jiménez because of their shared passion for dance. Seven years later in 2020, Adina’s journey was reignited when she received a message from Jennifer, offering her the opportunity to enroll in the TranscenDance™ Facilitator program. Adina embraced the offer, saying, “Yes, let’s do it!” She thought, “The world is turned upside down, I’m home and maybe it’s a good time for me to lean into what I’m actually here to do”.
At the time she wasn’t teaching belly dance classes. She was longing for something more because of her spiritual journey. The structure of the practice, combined with its openness, resonated deeply with her. When she would leave a dance class she said it felt jarring, and that she needed to regulate her own nervous system because the class didn’t do it for her. It didn’t have a level of self-care that she needed.
Adina began her TranscenDance™ training in December 2020, and loved discovering the blend of masculine and feminine energy in TranscenDance™ that she also found in belly dancing. She “adored” the structure and the openness and the freedom she found within it — similar to belly dancing, but with a spiritual depth that she had been seeking. And as a personal practice, it “blew my mind.”
“TranscenDance™ brought in a level of showing up for myself that I had not had before, and completely changed the way I view myself and take care of myself,” she said. It brought her a new level of self-care and trust, transforming the way she viewed herself and her purpose.
Before discovering TranscenDance™, she had almost given up on the idea that she could truly do what she loved. She didn’t have the belief or a clear path to make it happen. Being a full-time belly dance teacher or performer didn’t feel like it was meant for her. Deep down, she had an incredible longing to feel safe and grounded in her body through dance — but instead, she often found herself disassociated from it.
Finding TranscenDance™ changed everything. Seeing Jennifer Joy Jiménez live her passion and purpose through dance was a turning point. It was the first time she witnessed someone embodying the kind of dance and lifestyle she had always dreamed of but hadn’t thought was possible. Jennifer’s approach to dance was so aligned with what she wanted — something soulful, connected, and truly beautiful. It inspired her to believe that she could live that way too.
Adina has stayed in the work, including attending two virtual TranscenDance™ Facilitator Trainings and a Vibrant Healthy Woman online retreat. But her most profound experiences were at the “mind-blowing” Costa Rica retreat and attending the Mastermind group.
She loved how Jennifer modeled the importance of self-care, showing that she was worthy of luxury and love. The beautiful rooms, the energy during teaching, and the connection with others in Costa Rica were unforgettable. She found joy in creativity, danced in the ocean, and even tried zip-lining for the first time. She let her inner child run free, something she hadn’t honored before.
One of her favorite moments was when she lost her phone. Instead of panicking, everyone held the vision of finding it. She let go of attachment, surrendered to the moment, and allowed herself to be fully present. That experience of surrender, especially when floating in the ocean, was transformative. It taught her to trust, to release control, and to understand that she is supported. “It reinforced how I want to live my life — with courage, strength, and the deep wisdom that comes from surrender and continuous movement”.
Adina’s teaching style is rooted in the belief that dance is more than just physical movement — it’s a spiritual practice. She incorporates both belly dance and TranscenDance™ into her classes, creating a safe space for women to release stored emotions, celebrate their bodies, and connect with their inner power. Her goal is to help women feel fluid, flexible, and loved while moving through grief, joy, and everything in between.
Adina is currently offering monthly online classes and plans to expand to in-person workshops and retreats in the coming year. Her purpose is clear: to help women feel safe, powerful, and free in their bodies. As a pharmacist by trade, Adina believes that her true medicine is dance, self-care, and self-love. Through her journey, she has discovered that the most powerful healing comes from grounding ourselves in our bodies and celebrating who we truly are.
Adina’s journey is a testament to the power of embracing self-care, surrender, and living with purpose. Through TranscenDance™ and belly dance, she has not only transformed her own life but is now helping others do the same: creating safe, sacred spaces for women to connect with their bodies, release what no longer serves them, and celebrate their inner power. As she continues to teach and inspire, Adina reminds us that true self-care is about honoring all parts of ourselves, through movement, presence, and the joy of simply being.

Feel the Rhythm of October
Celebrating the Power of Music and Movement
October is more than just the month of changing leaves and cooler breezes—it’s a time to celebrate one of the most profound gifts we all share: music. While International Music Day is officially marked on October 1st, its significance can be felt far beyond this one day. The power of music doesn’t begin and end with a date on the calendar. Instead, it serves as a constant force throughout the entire month—and beyond—that connects, uplifts, and heals.
Music is, and always has been, the universal language that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries, reminding us that we are all deeply interconnected. Whether it’s the beat of a drum, the pluck of a string, or the resonance of a song’s lyrics, music invites us to feel, to open up, and to engage with the rhythm of life in new, vibrant ways. The celebration of International Music Day, which began in 1975, extends through the entire month of October by encouraging global participation in the art of music-making, sharing, and appreciation.
In 2024, as in every year, music is celebrated through live and virtual concerts, global performances, and educational events that explore everything from songwriting to the mental health benefits of music therapy. Communities worldwide will participate in cross-cultural festivals and concerts, embodying the healing power of music to restore balance, cultivate joy, and inspire transformation.
Here’s where TranscenDance™ takes this concept to a new, embodied level. In TranscenDance™, music doesn’t just inspire movement—it moves energy within us, helping us release what no longer serves and calling forth our highest selves. By integrating music into TranscenDance™, we invite participants to explore deep emotional expression through the body. One especially transformative stage of TranscenDance™ is the Dance of Serve, where movement becomes a reflection of solidarity, unity, and hope, reminding us that music is not just for entertainment—it’s a spiritual practice.
So, as we move through October, let’s honor music’s ability to unite and heal us, not just as listeners but as creators and dancers of our own journeys. This month, consider creating your own personal music ritual:
- Attend a concert, or listen to live music.
- Create a playlist that inspires your soul’s expansion and reflect on its impact.
- Practice TranscenDance™, using the music to move and release stagnant energy within your body.
- Share a song or musical moment with a friend, uplifting others through the magic of sound.
- Explore the powerful healing effects of music therapy or simply allow the music of life to fill your heart with gratitude.
Music can be a tool for personal and collective transformation, and in TranscenDance™, we recognize that every beat, every note, has the potential to shift energy and create the space for real, tangible growth in our lives. Let this month be your invitation to dance to the rhythm of your own heart, knowing that music will be there to guide and support you every step of the way.
So, for this October, let’s commit to celebrating the power of music to heal, inspire, and remind us of our interconnectedness. Whether through TranscenDance™ or the everyday soundscapes that fill our lives, we honor music not just as an art form but as an essential part of our human experience.
Self-Care Bliss
3 Simple Ways to Nurture Your Spirit
In today’s dynamic world, finding time for self-care is a wonderful opportunity to cultivate balance, clarity, and inner peace. Utilizing TranscenDance™, along with other nurturing practices, can help you reconnect with yourself, release stress, and foster holistic well-being. Here’s how to integrate TranscenDance™ and other self-nurturing practices into your routine.
- Embrace Movement with TranscenDance™
TranscenDance™ encourages freeform movement, allowing your body to move intuitively without any structure or judgment. Here’s how you can use it for self-care:
- Stress Relief: Moving your body helps release physical tension, and with TranscenDance™, you also release emotional blockages. It’s a powerful way to let go of built-up stress.
- Emotional Expression: Dance out your emotions. Whether you’re feeling joy, sadness, or frustration, let your body express what words can’t.
- Mindfulness in Motion: TranscenDance™ brings you into the present moment, grounding you through movement. This helps create a sense of mental clarity and peace.
Self-Care Tip: Dedicate 5-10 minutes each day for your own TranscenDance™ session. Play some music that resonates with your current emotions and let your body guide you.
- Practice Stillness through Meditation
While the movement part of TranscenDance™ allows your body to release emotions, the final stage of Stillness is equally vital for nurturing yourself. Meditation is a core self-care practice that allows you to quiet your mind, tune into your inner self, and restore balance.
- Mind-Body Awareness: Meditation helps you connect to your body and breath, increasing mindfulness and reducing anxiety.
- Emotional Regulation: Regular meditation fosters emotional resilience and helps you manage stressors with more ease.
- Enhanced Focus: Taking time for silence improves concentration and boosts mental clarity.
Self-Care Tip: Start with 5-10 minutes of mindfulness meditation daily. Focus on your breath, letting go of distractions, and return to the present moment each time your mind wanders.
- Ground Yourself with Nature Therapy
Spending time in nature is an excellent way to restore your energy and find inner calm. The natural environment fosters healing, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being. Walking barefoot on grass (grounding) or simply sitting in a park can reconnect you with Mother Earth.
- Mental Reset: Nature offers a peaceful escape from the busyness of life. It allows your mind to unwind and declutter.
- Mood Enhancer: Sunlight and fresh air boost serotonin levels, elevating your mood.
- Reconnection with the Self: Nature provides an ideal setting for reflecting on your thoughts, gaining insight, and practicing mindfulness.
Self-Care Tip: Incorporate some time in nature every day, whether it’s a walk, sitting in a garden, or practicing yoga outdoors.
Integrating these practices—TranscenDance™, meditation, and nature therapy, along with adequate sleep, and nutrition—into your routine creates a holistic approach to self-care. Each complements the other, working synergistically to nurture your body, mind, and spirit. Consistency is key, so find what resonates most with you, and make self-care a priority.
By dedicating time to nurture yourself through these practices, you can create a life filled with balance, joy, and inner peace.
