Make these simple, practical mindset shifts for greater financial abundance. Start manifesting more money today!
How do you feel when you think about money?
What thoughts come up when you think about your financial situation?
Money can be a source of fear, stress, and limitation…
Or it can be a resource that allows us to take care of ourselves and do more good in the world.
That isn’t to say that the numbers don’t mean anything, but numbers and balances aren’t the whole story. In fact, your money mindset plays a big role in how money shows up in your life!
Your money mindset is simply the collection of thoughts, feelings, and limiting beliefs that you hold around the topic of money. The roots of your beliefs about money usually lie in your subconscious mind… so you might not be aware of how these thoughts and beliefs are impacting your life.

The good news is, you can shift your money mindset! In this post, I’m going to share with you three simple, but powerful, mindset shifts you can make to help you move from scarcity to abundance.
Money Mindset Shift 1: Stop Saving, Start Giving
Don’t get me wrong- good money habits and reaching your financial goals does include saving money. However, saving can often feel like it’s rooted in a scarcity mindset.
A scarcity mindset feels like stress and resistance around money. If you have this type of mindset about money, you may resonate with beliefs like:
- I never have enough money
- I’m not good with money
- Saving money is hard
- There isn’t enough
- I’m always broke no matter what I do
- I have to save money for the bad things that might happen
From that energy, many people “save” their money because they feel like they don’t have enough. They may put money in savings because they’re driven by fear or because they feel like they “should.”
Instead, make this mindset shift to save with an abundance mindset:
Think of saving money as an investment in yourself. When you put money into a savings account, for example, you’re putting your money in a place where it can grow and accomplish even more.
When you save, you’re essentially giving yourself more money. It’s an investment into your desired outcome!
And, you’re allowing money to fulfill its true purpose as a neutral resource that can be used to do good work on your behalf.
Take this money mindset shift one step further by looking for opportunities in your life to give money in other ways. It may seem counterintuitive, but generosity reinforces the belief that there is plenty of money for everyone, including you!
So, whether you’re putting money into a high yield savings account to generate even more abundance…
Donating to your favorite cause or charity…
Or buying coffee for a stranger in your favorite local cafe…
This simple mindset shift can help you attract money into your life and open your pathways to greater abundance.
Money Mindset Shift 2: Cultivate a Growth Mindset Around Money
One of the most important shifts you can make to shift your relationship with money is to develop a growth mindset.
A growth mindset is rooted in the belief that a person can improve over time. Whatever the current state is, it’s only a starting point. This type of mindset maintains that growth is always available with learning and effort, and failure is an opportunity to learn.
A fixed mindset, on the other hand, is stuck in the belief that obstacles can’t be overcome and circumstances can’t be changed. A fixed mindset also convinces people that their capability “is what it is.” In other words, they can’t grow or improve beyond a set point.
A fixed money mindset might sound like:
- I’ll never be able to retire
- I don’t know how to invest, so I’d just lose money anyway
- I can’t get a better job
- No one in m family was ever good with money, and I’m not either
Instead, make this mindset shift to help you embrace a growth mindset around money:
No matter what your current financial situation is, it’s only a starting point. No money situation is finite. The fact of your current circumstance does not supersede the truth that you live in an abundant universe.
You can amplify your growth mindset around money by using positive affirmations. Positive affirmations are statements that declare to yourself and to the universe what is true for you.
They’ll help you support your goal setting and the good habits you’re developing. They’re also a good way to overcome any old, fixed mindset beliefs that might pop up from time to time.
These affirmations can look like:
- “I am so grateful I have the money to pay this bill, and there’s always more where that came from.”
- “I am excited to keep learning new ways my money can work for me. There are more opportunities than any other time in history, and I can choose the ones that excite me the most.”
- “I deserve to be paid for my time, skills, and contributions. I am excited for the new job that’s coming my way.”
- “I am improving my financial reality every single day. Money comes to me easily and often!”
Remember, you are in control of your energy around money, and your current situation does not limit your abundant potential.

Money Mindset Shift 3: Have More Fun
One ingredient of a positive money mindset that so many people miss is fun.
If the topic of personal finance feels boring, overwhelming, or anxiety-inducing all of the time, it can be difficult to infuse your money mindset with positivity.
Make this mindset shift to help you feel good about money:
Commit to having more fun with your money!
Try this: Each time money comes into your life, no matter how much, set aside a small portion of it just for fun. This can be in a separate account, an envelope, or even a special jar.
Use that money for things that bring you joy or things you might ordinarily say you can’t afford to do for yourself.
This could be things like:
- Manicures or pedicures
- Going to see a movie
- Happy hour
- Eating out
- A visit to your favorite coffee shop
- Something new for a hobby or activity you love
An abundance mindset is giving yourself permission to enjoy money. Focus on what you can do with the money you’re able to earmark just for yourself, and practice gratitude for each and every experience you can create with it.
The enjoyment and gratitude you experience through this exercise will help you feel more abundant…
Which, in turn, will attract even more abundance into your life.
