3 Proven Ways to Unlock Bigger Dreams and Have a Life of Joy, Fulfillment & Abundance
Have you ever heard the saying that you are a child of God, a child of the universe, or something similar? You might not disagree… But what does that mean exactly?
Personally, I believe it means that we didn’t create ourselves. Neither you or I have the higher intelligence to create our own bodies or organize our brains into the magnificent interfaces they are.
And, because we didn’t create ourselves, we can access this mind of infinite intelligence.
And here’s the truly amazing part…
When we realize that we are actually spiritual beings having a human experience…
We can tap into everything that the Universe has to offer, no matter what we’re facing at any given moment.
Know this: You were created to make a difference and to do extraordinary things. You were meant to live a life of joy, fulfillment, and abundance. No dream is too big.
But often, we are conditioned to settle, to dream small, and to let outside circumstances dictate our lives.
Why?
The simple truth is that there is safety in dreaming small.
Think about it- going after your biggest dreams means going after a version of your life you’ve probably never experienced before.
To your subconscious mind, that idea can feel inherently scary for two reasons:
- No matter how much you might WANT that incredible, dream life you’re imagining, it’s still unknown. It comes with risks, unseen challenges, and consequences your brain isn’t sure will be worth it, or how to overcome them.
- Your dream life will require you to leave “good enough” behind. And “good enough” is, well, good; letting it go in exchange for something else can be challenging.
The good news is, you aren’t limited to the safety mechanisms that have been built into your biology. In fact, there are powerful, intentional ways to challenge the part of you that might be tempted to stay small so you can embrace your dream life!
The following are a few strategies that will help you shift your perspective to dreaming BIG and embracing new possibilities.
How to Be Open to Greater Possibilities: Strategies to Create Your Dream Life
Here’s how to tap into the power inside of you that already knows how to create a life you truly love living.
1. Create a vision for your life
The first step to dreaming big and creating the life you desire is to have a clear and specific vision of what the life you want looks like.
You see, in the absence of a specific vision, it doesn’t matter how much power you have within you; you don’t know where to direct it. How can you know the directions to get somewhere if you don’t know where the destination is?
Start with this simple exercise:
Think about the four main areas of your life. Imagine what you would love in each area:
- What would you love for your health and well-being?
- What would you love to do and give if you had more time and money freedom?
- What would you love your relationships with other people to look like?
- What would you love the area of career or business to look like for you?
The key here is shifting your perspective from one of a general longing for things to be different to a specific vision of what you would love.

Instead of saying, “I want to be healthy,” create a picture of what being healthy looks and feels like for you. (Afterall, what you would do with vibrant health is likely different than how I might use vibrant health)
- Are you running a marathon?
- Growing and eating your own vegetables?
- Waking up each morning energized and well rested?
- Trying a new sport or re-visiting an activity you gave up?
Your vision helps inspire action and direct your efforts.
Think of it like this…
You’re going to experience results in your life just by living and breathing. In fact, you already are!
But, you can use the power within you to generate results you actually desire by harnessing the power of a specific vision for your life.
2. Tune in to greater possibilities
The reality is, the Universe is presenting amazing opportunities to us at all times. But often, our limiting beliefs cause us to miss these golden opportunities.
We simply aren’t looking for them, or we aren’t accustomed to recognizing them!
Think of your limiting beliefs like blinders. Blinders, sometimes called blinkers, are small plastic or leather cups used to restrict how much a horse can see. They can help horses stay calm, focus on their jobs, and can prevent horses from spooking.
In the same way, our brains use limiting beliefs to keep us focused on what’s safe, predictable, and right in front of us. This was once a necessary survival mechanism. But now, it can limit what possibilities and opportunities we’re able to see.
The solution is to start imagining life beyond your blinders; in other words, dreaming big. It costs you nothing and, because it begins in your imagination, comes with virtually no risk!
Using your imagination may seem silly. For some of us, it might even be something we haven’t done since we were kids. But, when you do, the Universe starts opening doors, and you have primed your mind to be more open to noticing new paths forward.
When we tune to the frequency of possibility instead of complacency, doors open that we never could have seen. Not because they weren’t there, but because we weren’t able to see beyond our perceived limits.
You just might be surprised what types of opportunities, connections and experiences present themselves to you!
3. Make decisions based on love
In a now famous commencement speech, actor Jim Carrey said that many of us often make decisions from a place of fear disguised as practicality.
This isn’t to demonize practicality. We all encounter situations and environments throughout our lives in which the ability to be practical is an important skill.
However, using practicality as an excuse to stay small, silent, and stuck can become a detriment. When, as Jim Carrey said, it’s just a thin veil for unaddressed fear.
Decisions made from a place of fear put you in a contractive mindset. A contractive mindset is one designed to keep you dreaming small and accepting your current circumstances.
Instead, try practicing shifting your perspective and making decisions based on love. This adjustment is simple and only requires asking yourself a single question… But you’ll immediately begin to live more expansively.
Instead of asking yourself what you think you should do…
Or spending your time searching for the most practical, acceptable decision, ask yourself this resounding and powerful question:
What would I LOVE?
In the quiet space before your inner critic pipes up, you’ll find an answer. It might not seem like an earth-shattering answer, but it will be far more aligned with your potential than fear can ever be.
Then, choose one aligned action that moves you in the direction of what you would love. No matter how small, taking a step forward affirms for your subconscious mind that this new direction is safe.
That doesn’t mean you won’t feel fear in the process. But it empowers you to begin to change your relationship with fear from something that dictates your decisions to something you might consider, but doesn’t control you.
Expand on this shift by allowing yourself to imagine the life you would love living beyond a single moment or decision. Consider what a great life might look and feel like for you. Then, call upon the power within you to take action towards making this dream life a reality.
No dream is too big… It starts with taking action
No dream can come true if you don’t dream it. As Goethe said, “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.”
And that’s the key – taking action.
When you embrace that you are a spiritual being having a human experience…
When you understand that you are an embodiment of the infinite…
Then you can begin to realize that no dream is too big to dream. You were (literally) made for more.
Remember, the power in you is far greater than any circumstance, situation or condition you will ever find yourself in, and it is in absolute alignment with your best life. With this TRUTH, you can begin taking steps toward attaining your dream and living a life you love living.
